Projects to be completed on my truck.

I have mods / maintenance etc... that need to be done, and I am just throwing them out there to let folks know what I have been doing (why I haven't been here for a little while).

#1. And most pressing. VCT solenoids need to be replaced. Have the solenoids and grommets, but the original grommets don't want to budge... Need to keep at that when I can get the time.
#2. MOOG HD spring swap in the Quicklift Loadeds. Probably wait until after first of the year. I have the coils, just need to get the truck into the shop and get them to swap out the springs.
#3. LED under bumper reverse light and 7 pin trailer wiring harness install. The added parts of the wiring harness are complete. I need to get the SS bolts and nylon washers to complete the install, but aside from that, it is ready to go in.
#4. Tool box top bracing, and PTM. Got the rivet gun, and rivets needed for this project. Got the steel U channel, Need to cut the channel, and brace it in place. Will attach to underside of tool box top center section with rivets and construction adhesive (liquid nails). Once mounted, and through hole for CB antenna mount are completed, PTM to be undertaken. Have Duplicor Arizona Beige rattle can in my inventory. Strip box down to nothing, prime, smooth, prime, smooth, you get the idea, color smooth, color smooth (minimum 3 coats) buff, clear buff, clear buff etc... Then mount back on truck, and reinstall antenna / cable.
#5. Finish cab back wall refinish. I got the color on but never cleared it due to weather problems. Need to strip all wax and junk off, mask it, wet sand with 600 throw at least 1 more coat of color before I buff then apply the clear. For those that don't know, the back of the cab by the window, on both sides got rubbed by the toolbox that was originally on the truck, not my toolbox, but the original owners. I finally got fed up with it.
#6. Interior redo. Recolor faded plastics, replace anything broken, including center section armrest (the padded part by the cup holders is curling up. Find some way to fix or replace that). Replace drivers set padding, and recover all seating with leather, replace factory carpet.
#7. This should have been mentioned before the coil springs, Remaining 100K maintenance. This would be change diff lube, flush and fill cooling system, brakes, power steering, and change spark plugs. (Ugh!)
#8. Bedrug.

Further down the road I would like to...

#1. Swap front and rear diffs for ARB Air Lockers with 4.56 gears.
#2. Helper springs / overload springs for the rear. Specifically for hauling a camper. One of the last things I want to add is...

Pop up slide in camper with AC and a portable / quiet generator. Camping in Texas during the summer requires AC!

For those that haven't figured it out, I have no intention of getting rid of my truck any time soon. I figure I am going to be known as that goofy old guy down the street with that old Ford truck... Pretty much every neighborhood has at least one...

Just an observation, but the plugs should be #1 or at least #2 - way overdue, and will not get any easier as they - and you - age lol. And low-grade misfires only get worse - and cause more damage.

Crucial maintenance items should never be superseded by cosmetic, bling or non-critical items. That's the purview of the Millennials on this site, not something I'd expect from a veteran old-timer....

Yeah, I was being too lazy to move my numbering. I did say it should have been BEFORE the coil springs...

I am presently running Seafoam with every tank, and filling up at Chevron. I want the inside of this engine as clean as I can get it before i go pulling those dumb plugs!

Good plans David. Can't wait to see the coil spring change. Anxious in fact. If you want those little Sumo coil helpers gone ship them to me for a price i'll give them a try to see if my rub dissapears.

Switch to Techron from Seafoam and you'll be good to go. Far more effective, and far less invasive - and far more concentrated than what's in Chevron's gas.

Persistent Seafoam use is just going to eventually pekker yer cats & O2's, adding even more items to yer list

good luck

When I first saw this body style at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo I said "I have GOT to get me one of those!"... I don't do that very often about most cars / trucks. I didn't care for the 97-03s, and the 09-14s aren't an improvement...

I'm funny with cars, when I find one I really like, I stick with it. Ford has to really WOW me to get me to move...

Actually I would like another Ford Truck, but Bobtail Broncos are getting hard to find...

I know what you mean ..... if you really like them, they almost become family in a way.

Just FWIW, this is the first post 1980 body style truck, of any MFG I have said "I have GOT to have one of those!"...

I mean sure don't get me wrong, I love the 98 up Super Duty trucks, but I am also realistic to know that they are new, or close to new, with the options I would want, out of my price range... I do have a friend with a 2004 6.0 PowerStroke King Ranch crew cab 4x4 that has been through the engine (forged head bolts, the whole nine yards) that has a company provided Super Duty as well who keeps wanting to sell me his truck, but I just love my F150... And have no real need for the added expense of a Diesel...

To put it bluntly, if I won some giant lotto today, I would have my truck torn down to bare frame and completely freshened up with my list of mods to get it just right...

Yeah, you can say I like my truck...
