05 hub assembly replacement

05 hub assembly replacement

Hey just bought this truck and guy thought the roaring was the tires but after driving 5.5 hrs home I discovered that it was the passenger wheel bearing and just bought the hub assembly and was wondering how hard it is to replace and if anybody has any tips and pointers gonna try and tackle it this weekend so any help is much appreciated

BTW 05 King Ranch 4WD loaded of course

The hub is pretty straight forward. Remove wheel , brake assembly hardware, and axle nut. With proper tools it can be done in 30 minutes if you hustle. I just replaced one bad one and replaced the other for peace of mind.

Is there anything specific in regards of drive ability that you should look out for while determining if a wheel bearing is going bad?

i have a sort of humming noise vibrating through the steering wheel while turning right around a gradual curve (traveling about 30 mph)

i suspect my left bearing is bad and causing such wandering and loose steering...

I guess my question is : how did you determine yours was needing replacement???

I could tell when I was driving it when I steered a certain the humming got worse.. You can hack the truck up on the wheel you thing it is and spin the tire if you hear a grinding rubbin noise then you know it's time to change
