HD lights on STX?

I'm looking at possibly buying a set of FX2 DSG painted headlights but every dealership I'm talking to says they are wired for HD bulbs.

Are these worth the cost, and is it too much of a pain to retrofit them to my STX, or is it even possible? I've been searching retrofit lights on here , I'd just like some opinions. Thanks.

WTH is an HD-bulb? Headlight housings aren't "wired" for anything. They may accept only a certain type of bulb, but our headlight housings don't have any wiring harnesses that I can recall. Xenon projector headlight housings may have wiring, but not the std F-150 reflector housings.

.....
The HD housings is just a blacked out version of yours and takes a H13 like yours.
It would be cheaper to just pop open your headlights and paint the Bezel the color you want.

Thanks lariat, thought of that but not sure of my abilities to reseal them properly after crackin them open.

Btw Sooner, don't be an a$$, no one likes an a$$ unless it's on a pretty woman
Seriously, chill on the caffeine--the purpose of these forums are to ask questions.

Mayhaps if I speak in the King's English you'll understand me a mite better....but you'll still be an a$$.

Sorry in advance, mods.....

No problem,
If you do crack then open buy some butyl glue from TRS. (theretrofitsource.com) its like $15 to get some and it covers 2 or more headlights. Just gotta make sure all the old perma seal is out of the channel.

I don't think there should be any difference either, and I've never heard of an "HD bulb." Maybe a picture or link so we know exactly what they are? Just to make sure they're just normal FX heads.

I didn't find Sooner's post that bad, but Jim would be on me for all those $'s

Will do, lariat. I'll watch some YT videos (think Darren did a couple) and familiarize myself with the process a lil more.

KMAC, it's been a long week and I spoke wrong in saying HD bulbs. That's al it was. I'll keep you guys up to date on what I end up doing

Easy there, turbo. I don't feel like I chastised your question at all. Actually, I was more referring to the fact that the dealership told you that it required HD-bulbs, which is asinine. Other than using "wth", I don't feel like I had any other verbiage that was the least bit aggressive. No caffeine needed.

Ahh, yeah, I thought the dealer told you HD bulbs and you were just repeating what they told you.

I also thought Sooner's remarks were angled toward the dealer telling you incorrect info.

HD bulb makes no sense. Same bulb. What dealership told you that?

By HD cap I thought you meant how the bulb cap in the headlamp is painted gloss black to match and make it look darker.

Only way to get that is to paint it. Whole light fixture its black painted and clear coated.

My apologies, Sooner--

I went back and read it again this morning but haven't had time to reply. Sorry if I came off a jerk, I see now that you were yelling at the dealer and not me. Yeah I was just repeating what info the dealer gave me concerning the headlamps--it honestly sounded screwy to me as I heard it, but it's been a helluva week.

Again Sooner, my bad.

^^^^Darren,

'Twas two local dealers, as well as Tasca that worded it exactly such. Actually I was talking about the chrome/"bright" section being DSG, it was a rare item found only on some 08 FX2s, if memory serves correctly.

All fx2's had DSG insides, as well as the 5000 limited trucks built in 08, and some fx4.

HD received the all gloss black treatment.

Everything else had chrome.

And I would search craigslist and ebay for fx2 style'd heads first....
