What justifies the $50+ price for a 50 cent switch? Even Ford stuff isn't THAT bad haha.

Those definitely are the best switches though, no doubt about it. But they are about twice what many of their "competitors" (who aren't as good) cost. Once I get a 3rd thing on a switch, I may spring for them.

They really can't justify the price. Those aren't even the most expensive, there are "smart switches" that run on data links that are double that. They each have a specific resistance when on so that the computers know which switch is on/off. Jobbers don't want to touch it, so the price stays high.

I'm excited to tackle the switch install. I plan on running an auxiliary fuse/relay box under the hood. The relays will be turned on via ignition power, then each circuit will have the switches control the lights. Key off, none of the lights will work. Keep the amp draw to a minimum.

Jeez, that's crazy. I don't even know why it's necessary for the computer to know whether a switch is on or off? I know old school truckers had to have gotten by without those.

That's more precise wiring that I'd be capable of haha. I hate wiring stuff, so I do all of it the most direct way.

It all comes down to computers. There are computers for everything. So rather than run multiple big harnesses, they can run one two wire harness throughout the truck. Plus, if there is a problem with the switch or circuit it will throw a fault code.

Hmm . . . I hate computers though. Don't trust 'em, like I'm 90.

KMAC, I used to be that way. Now it's a love/hate relationship.

I think I'm slowly starting to get the hang of this stuff. I also just talked my brother into a retro for his 08 f350. Stoked. He'll be happy to ditch his spyder headlights(came with the truck and the out put is absolutely horrible).

Just need to finish the other one and reseal these. Hopefully middle of this next week.

Progress looks great man. If you get real confident with retrofitting I can give you some business if your labor fee would be decent. Wouldn't ever want to spend $600+ on a retrofit job.

I would like to get a few more personal retrofit projects done before advertising for it. And I wouldn't have a huge fee as I'd just be getting into it.

Looking good! Yeah, there is a ton of money to be made for doing retros for people if you can get to that point.

Newest update that I'm happy about... Frpp hot rod cams are ordered. I know they don't give huge gains, but my cams needed to be replaced. Also ordered the lifters. Top end is done. I will be using MPT tuning for the tunes. Been talking with them. Happy with the customer service I've had so far.

Also spoiled myself, or well the truck I guess. Ordered long tubes, high flow magnaflows, x pipe, and another xr1 muffler. That takes care of the exhaust as well. Now the waiting game starts.

You NEED to do an exhaust video with those cams for me! I'm trying to convert my Y to an H and not have a muffler. Basically straight piped long tubes, just the resonators. So I'm gonna be super jelly when you have cams . . .

I will do an updated exhaust video! Unfortunately it won't be until December most likely. I need to get the exhaust done up before I do the cams. I will have to do some data logging to finalize the tunes, so that will have to be done first. I'm sort of worried about the header install most. I don't want any studs breaking. But if I do it myself it should save me a good chunk of change on the exhaust. Kmac what are you running for hardware on your long tubes?

I honestly can not wait for the cams. That will probably be my favorite mod behind the heads/fogs I have.

Oh and all the local exhaust shops were trying to talk me out of an x pipe. Basically cost wise. It was going to add around 150 to the bill if they had to make one. So I bought the magnaflow x pipe for 75. Showed them.
