Rev limiter
My 2005 expedition will not rev past 2750 rpm in park...it does the same thing going down the road...stumbles..shakes...engine light flashes..cycle the key..the light goes off...starts and runs perfect.....it'll cruse smooth as silk as long as you don't try to push it past the 2750 rpm...like passing another vehicle....the rev limiter is kicking in at 2750 rpm???...any thoughts?..anyone seen this before... Cure???
Its not your rev limiter
If this were a F-150, I'd say to check the FPDM for corrosion and replace if needed.
It could be the rev limiting function kicking in too early - due to a faulty PCM or corrupted programming - or a problem with a sensor or wiring somewhere.
