Fog Lights

Guys, I have factory fog lights on my 2007 Lariat. I recently upgraded the bulbs to 65 watt bulbs. Am I in danger of overheating the wiring that feeds those lights? The bulbs that were in there were 45 watt bulbs. I run my fog lights at all times when my headlights are on.

Any thoughts?

You don't run any danger of overheating the wiring, but melting the plastic lens is a definite possibility.

Thank you. That is a consideration I had not thought of. I actually thought those lenses were glass. Thanks for the heads up.

tap on them with your knuckle, you'll see they're polycarbonate.

Melted lens....45 watts is the highest I'd go in the round fog lights....

Yeah, I've never had good luck with upping the wattage on bulbs. After several bulb plug melts over several vehicles, I got the hint. I believe there are bulbs that are brighter while keeping the wattage the same, but I've given up and haven't researched it.

35w HIDs add brightness and lower wattage.
