Roaring sound from front end

Truck is 2007 F-150 KR 4 x 4 limited slip 3.73 w/towing package.

At around 105K miles I have suddenly developed a roaring sound from the front at low speeds...sounds almost like 35" madders on dry pavement. Tires are stock size Bridgestone Dulers with no weird wear pattern.

It does not grind, pop, click or have any metal on metal sound...just a roar. Does it in 4 or 2 wheel drive.

Any ideas because it seems to be getting worse.

Fan Clutch

When the fan clutch assembly goes on these motors it starts to roar on you. I would start there. It is a loud roar you can hear from inside the cab. Make sure you replace it with the Motorcraft OEM part. The off brand tend to be a little noisy.

I could go along with the fan clutch idea except for one thing...if I put it in neutral the pitch or loudness doesn't change.

I'm looking at wheel bearings now.

OK...turns out it was the drivers side Bearing Hub Assembly. This is a non serviceable item and must be replaced as a unit. It contains the ABS pick up and everything as a unit.

350-400 bucks too I imagine. What is with the Ford bearings? I have that to look forward too down the line, and have replaced 3 on my '06 Explorer which just turned 60k. I long for the "old days" when you could service bearings as routine maintenance. Probably the reason I opt for extended warranties now, with ea. bearing replacement commanding near 400.00 per replacement.

Hold on, guys.
Can't you just press out the old bearings and go on your merry way?

Not on a 4x4 truck. The bearings are in a hub assembly that has to be purchased as a whole
