edwards1687's 04' FX4 - Truck Progress
Just got my "new" lights on, removed the FX4 decals and gave her a quick bath. I think I maybe be replacing the FX4 decals with some that are Black/DSG. Reason being that there is some discoloration where the old ones used to be.
Let me know what you guys think!

I've been going a little LED crazy in the past week where I've swapped out the majority of all my interior and exterior light bulbs. Since that time I got the itch to do a retrofit in my headlights and fog lights. Luckily I picked up pretty good set of lights off Craigslist for $50 last night. I plan on using Meguiars headlight restoration to clean up some slight oxidizing and typical wear.

My thought is I want to go with an all black retrofit headlight with turn signal bowl, headlight bowl, projector shroud and tinted reflector all in black. Similar to the 13' OEM projector headlights. Also I would do an all black fog light. Does anyone know how the light output is on a painted turn signal bowl? I am thinking either satin or gloss black.

Good plan. I would do all black except the turn signal reflector, leave that chrome. If its black you will get zero output from the halogen bulb. Put a chrome-covered bulb in there to eliminate the amber "egg yolk" look in the reflector and it will look awesome.
When I retro'd my buddy's Civic, I left the high beam reflector chrome (much like our turn signal reflector), painted the rest of the bucket/housing satin black, and did the shroud half chrome half black, it turned out awesome and would look great on your truck that way IMO. Tint the reflector too, obviously. Fogs paint the housing all black, half black/half chrome shroud over some matchbox projectors.

Plus half/half the painting of the shroud.
Thanks! They are OEM F-150 tow mirrors
I hear what your saying and I like that idea but I'm still wanting to go all black but would like to get some feedback on light output from the black turn signal bowl (I know there are several guys around here with them). What you talking about is retrofits silimar to these two - 1& 2

Looks killer.
Another idea is to paint half the shroud yellow to match, like this:

That looks awesome
Now you got me thinking...I think if I go with gloss black the light output on the turn signal bowl will be pretty decent along with some LED switchbacks.
I have put the retrofits on the back burner for a little while because I have been pretty busy over the past couple months. I have the lights opened, painted and reflectors are tinted to match my tails (thanks Brent). I hope to spend a little more time on that project this summer when it's 100+ degrees.
In the mean time I just picked up a set of Armor coated Pacesetter long tube headers for an excellent price. I know there are mixed reviews on them but for the price I figured I would take a chance and a big thanks to Dewser for his help. Overall the fit and finish is great. I wasn't expecting Dynatech quality but I also wasn't spending $1,000+ for headers. I still need to pick up (2) Magnaflow 94136 High Flow cats and few small things before I get into this chore of a project.
