Tailgate handle camera

Does anyone know where to get a tailgate handle camera housing. It's for a 07 but I want it in black not chrome. Thanks

You can purchase primed, or black textured, from Tasca Parts and have it painted.

I thought that reverse cam was a 2008 option?

It was for an 08, but the camera handle will fit any truck from 04-up. When I added the power tailgate lock to my 07, I also ran the wiring for the camera, just never got around to putting one in.

Anyone know if a ford camera will connect to a pioneer nav unit? Or if an aftermarket camera will fit in the ford housing?

Yes it will connect to any aftermarket headunit. Just splice an male rca plug into the camera wiring and plug it into the camera input on the back of the pioneer. Use the center pin on the rca plug as the + video and the outer ring as the - video.

I just installed a kenwood DNX 9980HD in my 11' fusion with the factory installed camera. I spliced into the camera wiring and now the cam output shows on both the rear veiw mirror (like it always did) and the 7" kenwood screen. And the guide lines that are overlayed onto the video output also show on the kenwood.

I never did get around to putting in the camera, I just ran the wiring. I got the idea for the tailgate lock from a member on here who lives in AZ and has a white 2004 FX4. I found an 18/7 cable at home depot that I used for both the cam and lock and put on a 6 posistion weatherpack connector for a disconnect at the tailgate.
You only need two leads for the lock but you need an additional four for the camera, 12v +, ground, video +, video -

When I installed mine I used a cheap camera off ebay, it was around $20 or less, the ford camera was really high priced. I think my entire install was under $100 and $70 of that was for the handle from Ford. It's been working for 2-3 years now without any issues.

What model camera did you use? was it a direct fit into the handle? Been wanting to add a backup camera but want it to look factory.

I bought the handle first and measured the size of the hole and then bought a camera that fits closest to it, I also bought a video screen from the same place all for less then 30. It came from china or japan but is still working. Search ebay for a keyhole camera (I think that's what they are called). None of the cheap ones will be an exact fit but they are really close, I just used a little silicone to keep it in place. I figured if it didn't work I wasn't out much and could buy the exact fit one later but it has never been an issue. make sure you look for an all weather camera, there are a lot on ebay to sort through. On a level of 1-10 for install difficulty I would give it around a 2, pretty easy. I can't remember any of the specifics like who I bought it from from, it was quite a while ago. The reason I wanted one was for hooking up trailers, it's great not needing 2 people and also being able to get it right the first time.
