How to improve performance at altitude?

Need some advice on how to increase performance for my 2005 SCrew XLT. It is my daily driver so MPG does factor in, but I will use it frequently to drive up to mountains from Denver.

Should I be looking at CAIs first or exhaust, someother mod? What order should these be done in? Any shops in the area you recommend?

Personally, i would do a CAI before exhaust. Also a Edge Evo or programmer, depending on how far you want to go.

do the gotts dwv mod and a programmer with custom tunes...best bang for your buck....

link for gotts mod>>> http://www.f150online.com/forums/art...04-2008-a.html

good tuners that sell programmers and write custom tunes

power hungry performance

troyer performance

vmptuning

5star tuning

it also makes a big difference to keep your mass air flow clean along with the throttle body....

My truck ran like crap up in the mountains. Contact bill at PHP tuning and he can make you a custom tune for altitude.

Boost. That is the only real fix for your power at altitude problems.

I'm in Denver area too, not alot you can do. Supercharger would help but thats big $. But a supercharger will only force air that has less oxygen in it. I have a CAI and edge, both help a little but does nothing for MPG. I'm running regular gas as higher octane at altitude is a waste of $$.

Don't waste your money or time on a CAI (or gots mod). Does almost nothing for you here. Nothing short of a super charger will give you any noticeable power increase

Could be something wrong with your truck. Any modern fuel injected computer controlled vehicle will adjust to the altitude just fine. Only older carburated vehicles would have any issue going to a higher altitude.

Thanks 88! Opened the hood to check out the the Gotts Mod and noticed that the Air intake had come away from the wall a bit. Going to secure it down and see what happens.
That link was huge. Thanks again

it wont do anything power wise. all that does is suck air from the fender area, and prevents hot air from getting in
