side mirror glass~!!!!!

i hopeing some of you can help.. my passanger side mirror glass and plascitc backing(the piece that holds the glass) is broken thanks to a idiot in parking lot at work...i know you can buy just the glass and i know you can buy the whole mirror assembly but can you buy the mirror glass and backing..
auto zone said they could order it but then said they could only get the mirror glass. so i called our ford stealership and they claimed you cant even reattach the plastic backing to the motor(which i know is false) and that i would have to buy a whole new side mirror.

does anyone know
1. can i buy a plastic backing with the glass in a non heated non blinker version if so where?

2 will a heated mirror glass and plastic backing assemply work(fit i know the heated mirror part wont work) as i have found one in the heated version.

any help is appreciated and if yo uordered one please tell me where. thanks
Jeff S.

I just changed mine on an 08 screw FX4. I replaced the whole mirror for $112(pwr, heated with signal). The only thing I didn't do yet was change the cap back to my paint to match cap from my old mirror. I'm afraid to take the new glass of because I'm sure I'll screw it up somehow!

Look online at Tasca.

At least you don't have one of the new side mirrors that have the built in convex mirrors. $370 to replace that piece of glass

I had the same thing happen to me! Went through the car was and when it was done my mirror was just hanging there online thing holding it in was the defrost wires. Car wash said they would glue it on.... I was so pissed I said I'll figure it out later..... I personally glued it in with some heavy duty epoxy since all the plastic clips were gone. It's been a month now and many car washes later and its still holding. I know its not the right way to fix it, but for 4.00 i am happy so far.

Just my experience...

I will be selling both the driver and passenger side mirrors (power, non-heated, non-turn signal) from my 08 STX in about a week.....I'm just waiting on my new mirrors (power, heated, turn signals) to come in.

Let me know if you are interested...

If all you need is the glass with the plastic backing piece you can get them at rockauto.com for under $20 + shipping.

Sorry for the delayed response. I was all set to buy one on Ebay for $129, when my dad said he'd check the local parts store he deals with. They were able to get it for $112. So check Ebay an your local parts store to see what gets you the best deal.
