Dead battery help, PLEASE

So, yesterday two times I cranked my truck and it wouldn't crank and then all the gauges, RPM and MPH went down below the bottom line.. Then it reset my trip, then I went to drive it this morning to get a new battery and it won't crank at all.. I attempted to jump it off, and all it did was create a nonstop ticking noise, from the rear of the cab.. The ONLY way to make it stop, is to put the key in accessory mode, and put my foot on the brake. Any ideas? Waiting on a better vehicle suited for jumping my truck.

The ticking is the BCM module that controls the security. You just need a new battery.

And a better set of jumper cables.

It's a truck, but to start it takes no more than that car you jumped off of. You do know to disconnect the jumper cables as soon as the vehicle your starting starts if the other one is running? You do not want two vehicles running and charging connected with jumpers.

Next time try letting your truck charge off the jumper cables for a couple minutes. Then have the person in the car push on the gas pedal to get their alternator spinning a bit faster while you try to start your truck.

I've had trouble jumping vehicles before and doing those two things will fixed it.

And like tbear says... unhook it right away
