Decisions....Decisions.....

I hate decisions, especially hard ones!! As many of you know I sold my 04 Lariat 4x4 Crew and made a little money off of it. I was skeptical about the truck and it just wasnt as nice as I wanted.

I have been on the lookout for one and ran across this 06 Lariat Crew in Dark Toreador Red with gold bottom. 69k miles, tan leather interior, etc...

Compared to my 04, it doesnt have:
  1. full center console
  2. power back glass
  3. subwoofer

I actually like not having the center console up front, it allows for a 6th person and makes the up front more roomier!

The power back glass is not a deal breaker, I used it once in the month that I had the last truck

The subwoofer, is NOT a deal breaker. The sound was fine in the truck although the factory sony sound system with the sub is nice.

It has brand new firestone destination tires, new brakes, and is super clean over all. IF I can get it at the price that I want, I think I'll try to pick it up. The color is the same as the 04 I had, but looks nice on the gold bottom, and is much cleaner and spot fee unlike the 04 (its paint was super rough and spotted). If it was white, id own the truck right now, but I have not found ONE, no not one 06-07 White Lariat for around 21-22k with around 60-70k miles. Pitiful.... I really like this truck and have some pondering to do today!

decisions, decisions...

PS here is the old 04 that I sold that i believe was developing the cam phaser issue and just wasnt as clean as I would like

Your basically trying to buy a newer version of what you already had? Granted I love dark toreador, at least get a different color truck. I would try for newer, minimal being a late production 2008 which would have no bugs at all like some 04s/06s.

I traded my 04 supercab well optioned xlt to a 07 supercrew lariat high optioned and I am happy, for now. But I still wish I waited for this summer because some light miled 09s are getting quite affordable. I found a black 09 Platinum 4x4 with 45k miles for $26k.

While I would love to do that, the 08 crew cabs are out of my price range for sure. Most of them are close to 28-29k. Thats basically why I sold the 04. It was not nice enough for me. I wanted a little newer nicer one. So my years are 06-07. A buddy of mine who works for Ford (where the techs call to get advice) told me to stay away from 08s as they had crankshaft endplay problems.

If it was white, it would be sold for sure lol!

No way I'm paying 21K for an 06. Sorry, but here in the NE OK area, I've seen 07/08 Lariat 4x4's with mid 60K miles go for 20-23K all day. That's with power glass, etc. The audiophile stereo is about the only you won't be able to find consistently. The NAV unit was made by Pioneer, btw, I don't think Sony was ever involved (no loss there, imo). You can buy a lot of truck for 21-22K these days.

I'm calling BS on the '08 crankshaft issues. It'd be the first I've heard of it, and would likely be an issue of a bad batch of them, not an entire production year's worth of them.

That's because of region. I look in texas craigslist and on cars.com and you can find the Laraits for like 19-20k alot of times, but that is because they do not have a NEED for 4x4s. Here in NC, we have the snow and stuff and that makes the 4x4s higher. Its about the same as real estate, depends on your location.

I still cant beleive a new one cost around 45k. Its pathetic really. No truck should cost half as much as my house. 30k is a reasonable enough price on a new truck. But just check out Cars.com and Autotrader for 06-08 Lariats for 27030 within 150 miles, none are less then 22k unless tha=ey have over 80k miles on them

My point was that you can buy a plane ticket pretty cheaply and drive the truck home. It's cheaper than paying another $3-4K to find something in your home state. In NE Okla and KS, we get snow and ICE. Plenty of 4x4's around here, just like NC. The price premium you are paying is likely due to regional inflation, not demand.

I'd be worried about anybody who would chose a KIA over that!

is there a higher registration fee to register a truck that comes from out of state? they charge 600 or 1000 dollars here in florida.
