Hail Damage

So I was sitting at the local Lowe's last night waiting to go in because it was raining pretty hard. Then the rain started getting louder hitting the truck. After it dried and got out in the daylight, I noticed a bunch of tiny paint chips on the hood and roof of the truck. I googled paint chip hail damage and found varying opinions on the matter. Does anyone know how big of a fight I'm going to be in with the insurance company?

Thanks

I've never had a problem with a hail damage claim. You either have it or you don't. If the paint is actually cipped, not just dented, then you are looking at repair and repaint. If the paint is not broken, paintless dent repair is the way to go.

No dents, just chips. That's why I think I will have a problem with the insurance company. Sorry I forgot to mention in the first post.

I would say that's highly unusual. I'vee seen a lot of hail damage that caused dents with no chips but I've never seen hail damage that caused chips with no dents.

Not to say it can't happen, but I have to agree, all the hail damage I've seen was small ... very small ... dents with no actual breaks in the paint.

That sucks but I don't believe you'll have any problems as long as you have the full coverage.

Living in TX my whole life, I've had 5-6 vehicles over the years with hail damage. On all but one the hood, roof and/or trunk was dented but the paint was not broken, were fixed with paintless repair. The other had such massive hailstones hit it that it made huge dents and the paint around the edges of the dents was "torn" as it couldn't stretch that much. Got a new hood and trunk lid out of that incident.

If your truck has chips in the paint with no dents that would be very odd. I would actually like to see some pics if you could post them up.
