Looking for Help/information
Hello, This is my first post here on the website. Never before had an issue and prior to i used this site and a few others as reference point due to the amount of information here.
In anycase here's my current problem. I recently bought a F150 Basecare ESP because my vehicle didnt have a warranty. This being only a few weeks ago probably two. Well i took my truck in today to have the engine looked at since it started making a noise last week.
I have a slight ticking sound when the engine warms up that sounds like its coming from the Engine. I received a call from McKie ford earlier today and they're telling me that they're recommending a new engine for it.
I currently drive a 11th Generation Ford F-150 Supercrew Lariat. They believe the ticking sound was due to cam phasers going bad however when they did a teardown of my engine today they said that it looked like there was damage to the internals of the engine thus the recommendation for a new one.
They did tell me they believe it was due to a lack of oil to certain sections of engine due to an Aftermarket oil filter possibly going bad and clogging it up.
My thing is now is will my Warranty cover this? I had my oil changed maybe a month ago. So i know for a fact i had oil in there, and i know for a fact it wasnt leaking oil.
The dealership told me that there's a 90-95% chance that my warranty will cover it however im still a little on edge being that im Military and when talking about a new engine thats about 6-7000$. So its a big chunk of money that i dont have at this time.
Any advice? Or any similar events such as this?

What kind of filter was on the truck?
Is your ESP with Ford or is it an outside carrier?
If it isn't with Ford then the ESP should not be affected by whatever brand filter it has on it. That is unless it says Motorcraft only in the policy. If they give you any guff then go after the filter manufacturer and let the dealer and the supplier fight it out. Just demand that they fix it according to your policy.
Good luck.

Im not exactly what brand filter it was, i intend on calling TMA tomorrow about this since they're the ones that performed the oil change for me. I had Royal purple oil put in.
My ESP is with Ford and it is their Basecare plan.

I'm not sure if they can turn you down anyway, unless it expressly says Genuine Ford only in the contract. Sometimes you gotta push them a bit.
Remember, all an ESP is is an insurance policy........and you know how loose insurance companies are with their/your money.
Good luck, oh and welcome to the site!

Thank you for the insight as well. The guy i've been working with has been the same guy i've worked with the past 3 times i've gone there He's a good dude so i believe he'll pull through for me but there's always that chance that puts me on edge.
Plus getting more information of this is for my best interest as well

And just a word, some people get cranked if you post the same questions in different forums. It's better to only post in one, that way everybody can follow the progress and you get more info that way.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
I sure hope it works out for you sir. I read the stories, some are horror stories .... so keep us posted .... and Thanks for your service.
People getting cranked .... yeah, I've seen it too .... just never heard (read) it said like that. Doesn't make sense to me, I never did care if folks posted in two seperate places or had the nerve to ask before reading every word of every sticky. It ain't like the question is gonna interupt their supper, they have to click on it to read it. I just usually answer in one so if they check back .... they'll find it.

I can't remember if there is a "burn-in" period before the policy becomes "effective" (like 30 days or 1000 miles, etc.) I now many third-party policies are like that, just can't remember if the ESP was, it's been so long.
