2004 F150 engine bogs down
It is back to stock. I had the Bully Dog long before this problem. I don't think it is the problem.
Hi all, I havn't pursured the problem further as I don't know what else to do... This past winter the bogging has been minimal as usual but last week it started to bog as bad as ever. This makes me think it may be partly due to the summer gas mixture california uses. I mean the truck was nearly bogless until recently and the weather hasnt gotten much warmer. Not to say it doesnt get worse as the weather gets warmer because it really does but on 50 degree mornings in the summer it will bog and on 65 degree days in the winter it doesnt bog. Anyone else notice similar issues that point to summer gas mixture making the bogging worse?
I have a similar issue...I am suspecting drivers side Catalytic Converter, as I have gotten numerous P0430 codes...Since I am in California, I am going to live with the problem til I get an extra $2500 to replace the CAT (no aftermarket available here in the Sunshine state). I will probabley have to do it in August when I have to have the truck smogged...
My first car, a 77 Datsun B21o had similar symptoms when the Catalytic converter finally went...

No, I am not running a K&N filter. That has nothing to do with this bogg that we are experiencing. As I've posted a couple times previously on this thread I have found that my bogging is (somewhat) caused by my flashpaq tuner.
The truck does bogg slightly under partial throttle at the 30-40 mph range on the stock OEM tune. But when the Flashpaq tuner is loaded the bogg becomes more amplified and feels like the truck has died and comes back to life once past 40ish mph.
If I "gas it" go full throttle it runs fine with no problems through that mph range.
However, I ran a K&N CAI on my '04 for nearly 100K miles. No bogging whatsoever.
But, this is for another thread.

My 04 f150 is and has been doing the exact same thing. it didn't start until i cleaned my throttle body...yeah, yeah, i WAS running K&N until i couldn't even pull up to a stop sign without having to restart the engine. my TB was horrible! i am afraid i knocked some crud down in the manifold when i removed it. which is why i am leaning towards the cmcv system. less oxygen in hot air means more air is needed for the same combustion. more oxygen in cold air means less air is needed for the same combustion. to the MAF, everything is doing great. but it cant measure the air making it past the cmcv runners. another thing i haven't tried but am waiting for it to arrive is the TPS (Throttle Position sensor)
in the end i am stuck doing the same thing as everyone else... throwing parts at it and hope something sticks.haha, these trucks computers seem to have the sensitivity of a bipolar brick. i just wish for one code to throw so i had somewhere to start!

I hate double posting but this is something i just noticed today! when it boggs, if i let off the pedal just barely, the engine picks back up and runs strong until i let off the throttle. i wasted 1/4 tank testing this this morning. im not sure if its related but mine just started ticking like a limp lifter at all rpm's. but still, no codes.
Wyoming Gold
My pickup was not too bad through the winter, but as soon as it gets to 75 deg F or 25 deg C, it starts.
Stopped into Ford repair shop last fall when I was having the problem and they told me it would be approx $2000 to replace the cam phasers.
Stopped at a different Ford shop today, with the same problem not that it is warming up and they said that they have been have good luck with going to either 10-30 and sometimes 10-40, which seems to resolve the problem, when it get warm out.
I just serviced my truck, but will service again in about a month, so will keep you posted. Anyone else, try this, let us know if it helps.
Thanks and have a great Summer!

You guys should check out this thread from another forum. My truck was bogging pretty bad and moaning a little I did this and it's all better. http://www.f150forum.com/f4/bog-down...solved-166431/

With that bad seal it can definitely suck in dirty air and/or more importantly "unmetered" air causing issues.
Just looked at mine and the seal was totally rotted and gone.
I cleaned it off and installed a new foam strip. I'll see how it does going home from work today and report back.
Got my hopes up

i tried that about three months ago to no change... I hope it works for others though. I had to unhook the battery and do the re-learn process afterwards because the difference in airflow caused mine to surge a little when trying to stay around 10 mph.
Theses trucks tend to have some kind of bog issue. If you read through the link I posted above its a common thing. Mine was doing it bad and had like a moaning sound and the link above fix the sound and a lot of the bog but it still kind of does it. My edge programmer helps with the bog a little too, because with it on a slightly custom level 2 program the truck wants to get up and move. If your bog isn't really bad it's pretty much normal, it sucks but it is what it is.
