Has anyone figured out a fix to this? I have been having the same problem over the last two+ years. Also seems to get worse in the warmer months and is getting super irritating.

I am going to look into cleaning the TB.

What does reflashing the PCM do?

I haven't reflashed the PCM yet as the cool winter months makes the bogging almost non-existent but these past few warmer weeks (80 - 90 degrees) have been the worst ever. Just the few warm days have made the bogging almost impossible to deal with. It seems it is getting worse with age and the warmer temps have always made it worse. I hope to get the PCM reflashed very soon. It has always had a bogging problem since new but is getting worse as the miles build. Im at 166,000 miles. Ford has to know about this problem so if the flash doesn't work Im going to start digging into Fords files. I will be in touch, Henry

engine bogging

Had the TB cleaned and the pc flashed, plugs, and mafs, fuel filter, air filter, and more with no results. It does it very little in the winter but in the summer it gets real bad. The thing is it doesnt have to be hot to act up alot. It was 63 degrees this morning and the bogging was going on alot. Maybe the change in the gas blend for calif. from winter to summer makes it worse? Its really getting bad and Im starting to loose my loyalty to Ford.

Henry,
I am in the same boat as you, 170,000 miles, replaced all the same stuff as well as cam phasers and timming chains. Gets worse in hot weather just like yours. (bogging on light acceleration and coming out of turns but gets up and goes great when you punch the gas) I have bookmarked multiple threads across several forums hoping someone would find a resolution. Anyhow, After doing some work to it last weekend I have narrowed it down to two possible problems. Last weekend I changed the oil to some cheapo walmart stuff and auto rx engine cleaner flush (2nd time doing this) at the same time I pulled the oxygen sensors in front of the cats and drove around awhile to see if anything changed (mabey clogged cats)
I couldn't tell if it was better or not with the sensors out, so after it cooled I put them back in. The difference was immediate. It has not bogged all week, but I still sense it wants to once in a while. So my current theories are, 1) cats are clogging and running it without the sensors may have blown some stuff out and freed them up a little. 2) low oil pressure to the heads causing the cam phasers to remain retarded until i hit the gas and build up oil pressure and the kick in. There is more to the story on this theary but would take me awhile to explain, but basically I think my first engine flush treatment may have cleaned things up and was allowing the synthetic oil I have been using to get by crank bearings etc and dumping straight back into the pan and not making it up to the heads (worn out engine). At this point it is one of these 2 things for my truck. I am going to get the cats checked soon, hopefully that is the problem. If that isn't it I am going to try a heavier weight oil. Hope that isn't the problem.
I know your frustration, I have been trying to figure this out for 2 months, and since I can't afford the 90+ hr dealership rates, I do all work on my own. Most of the stuff I have replaced needed to be done anyway. All the other threads I have read indicate the dealerships can,t seem to diagnose this problem anyhow. Mine has never thrown a code or had a pending code. I will post back with my final resolution (may be a couple weeks)

Adam

WOW, I did a search for bogging and here we are!
Glad its not just mine. I just bought this '05 3 weeks ago.

Sounds like its the same as the rest of you.
Overall the truck runs great, but boggs to the point of allllmost cutting off when I'm lightly accelerating at low rpms just trying to take it easy. I can "play" with the pedal and make it feel like the truck is not running.
If I go ahead a mash the throttle it'll take off with plenty of power.

I just added a Flashpaq tuner and have tried different tunes with no changes. It does it in all of them. So I don't think its a Computer thing. It is showing no codes.
I changed the plugs, fuel filter, and cleaned the TB and MAF.

I'm no mechanic but it feels like there is a intermittent dead spot in the throttle by wire "Gizmo" on the throttle body.
Could that be it?

Very Wierd problem for sure.

Could be, the throttle body is one of the only things I have not replaced on my truck. I have read threads on other forums where people have replaced them and it did not fix it. This is one of those problems that seems to have multiple potential causes. I have read some folks resolving by replacing any of the following, coil packs, plugs, maf, fuel filter, injectors, clogged cats, ebrake sticking, vacuum leaks. What makes it difficult is many times there are no codes thrown or pending. In my case I am about 90% sure my cats are clogging, I just have not had a chance to get it to a shop and checked yet. But since it has just come back in the last few days and getting worse, i will be getting them looked at soon.

I still haven't figured it out. I've learned that I can drive around the issue by changing my driving habits to avoid the dead spot.

Hi All,
I have the problem with when driving and I stop, it bogs down and almost quits and extreme rough idle. Just step on the gas and smoothly reves up. Yesterday, drove 12 km and when I came to the second stop, it bogged down. Today drove 85 km and not problems. Any Ideas of this concern.

Bringing back this old thread with an update. It seams I've found the source of my bogging issues.
Its being caused by my Superchips Flashpaq tuner. I unloaded the tuner from my truck a couple weeks ago and drove it on the factory tune for a week, some 300 miles. It ran flawless with no bogging whatsoever.

So, last week I reloaded the tuner and a performance tune back on my truck. Along came the bogging issues once again.
I've contacted Superchips and they are currently working with me on resolving the issue.

Hope everyone else has had luck finding their issue as well.

Good Luck

It's running lean due to the K&N intake. You need custom tunes.

No intake, just a drop in K&N filter.

Have you been able to find out what the problem was. I have been having this problem for 2 years and it is really bad when towing. I have replaced TB, MAF sensor, all 8 coil packs. I have a Bully Dog GT Gas so I am able to watch multiple sensors along with timing and TPS.

Now when it bogs the throttle opens 100% the load max's out and it pulls out all the timing out and then some. I have seen as much as -4 degrees of timing.

Someone had told me that it could be the ECM. I just want to make sure before I spend $700-$800 on one.
