Third Brake light

I'm having some rust issues on the cab corners of my Screw and have read some information concerning the leaky 3rd brake light. If indeed there is a leak will I definitely see it on my headliner or is it possible that it would only affect my cab corners? Thanks for the help guys.

I have the leak and it showed up as a slight water stain in the passenger side rear corner of the headliner and could only been seen from a certain light. I have heard others say they could hear the water in the headliner but that hasn't happened to me but I ordered some new LED tail lights and they came with a LED third brake which worked well for me since I wanted to replace my lights with smoked lenses anyway.

You won't necessarily see it on the headliner. I had a problem with the carpets in the front being wet and it turned out that it was caused by the 3rd brake light leaking and the water running down the channels under the door sills when the truck was parked facing slightly downhill. I removed the defective gasket and siliconed the heck out of it and fixed the problem. I never saw a wet stain on the headliner.

I think everyone of us should take the 3 mind to unscrew the third break light and add a small bead of silicon around the seal to prevent any future headache by water leaking in and causeing rust mildew and stains in the headliner.

I tried the silicon it didn't seem to do the trick. Besides I wanted new tail lights to go with the smoked look I am doing and when I order my tails the 3rd brake came with it for $130 plus shipping. Hard to beat that.
