U thought about 315/70/17 size tires? Slightly smaller but won't rub as much. What backspacing and offset are your wheels? If they aren't close to stock u will rub bad going that large. Something to think about.

Let me know how it goes with the headlights. I want to hear about the process more from a few people before I decide. I think those flat black bumpers look good on your truck. Personally, one day I'd love to have a truck that the whole thing is flat black. I'm pretty sure the backspacing is -11mm and the offset is 4.5. I was planning on doing a little cutting to help with the rubbing.

and I agree...paint the headlights or pick up some ebay replicas like I did...just seal them with some silocone when you get them to prevent leaking. I think I spent $119 on mine

Great looking stepside!
Thanks for the advice and the compliment man! I've got 2 questions about the 2.5". 1) would I be able to clear 35's with it and 2) would I need a larger block in the rear? Sounds like you got one heck of a deal on your headlights! What did you type in the search bar on ebay?

Bad news for you, with those wheels I am pretty sure that you will not be able to fit the 35s. U have to have nearly identical to stock wheels backspacing for the 35s to fit. They are 7.5 inches wide with I believe 5.5 inches of backspacing. Yours stick out maybe an inch and a half or so farther than stock and will rub with that big of tire. U may want to ask Wandell as he is the tire expert. U can pm him if be hasn't checked this thread. The 35s would fit with a 2.5 kit if the wheels were to be proper bs and offset. And on yours the bs is 4.5 and offset is -11, just had those two switched. And I would wait on the block till after u have your level. A 2.5 on an 05 should get u close to level. The 04-05 have a little more rake than 06-08 so I would personally wait on the rear end. Create a post in the wheels and tires section with your wheel info and plan and ask if they will fit. More people check that section it appears.

here ya go bud. click on the link: black headlights

at 100 with the buy-it-now price plus around 20 for silicone you can have a set of black headlights. however, they are more of flat/satin black and stood out against my black truck in direct sunlight. i would suggest spending the 100 on the heads, and using the how-to posted above for painting the insides (these are super easy to open up compared to oem lights) and get some gloss black plastic paint (i used krylon fusion gloss black) as well as black rtv silicone to reseal them. i spent two afternoons and mine turned out pretty good i think and matches a whole lot better plus with silver reflectors you can throw in whatever color led you want instead of having to stick with amber only. i think it was around 30 for supplies and all you will need is one can if you use the krylon fusion (not sure on others) and required no sanding.

p.s. sorry for making such a long post, just offering my advice/experience

Dang that's a bummer. My dad owns a tire store/repair shop here in GA so its no problem getting the parts and the tires. I'll definitely post a thread in the tires and wheels section and ask about em. If it comes down to it I can order two sizes and try one then the other and see which one fits better and rubs less. Thanks for the tips and advice. I appreciate em both.

Thanks for the link and the tips on how to do it. I'll definitely look into doing that here soon. Gotta out away money to pay for my next year of school first and then go from there.

Just letting you know, I bought mine on ebay aswell. I also added some RVT Sealer to mine before install due to advise on here. I can't remember the company I picked them up from but picked them up for 59.00+ 35 shipping and tax was around 100. The lock for the main lamp was a little to thick and I had to trim both down to get my headlight bulbs to lock in correctly but for 100 bucks it was worth it. I am going to pop open my oem's and paint them white to match the truck and then sell the ebay ones. Probably about a month or so. When I do I'll let you know.

You can check them out in my photos.

Welcome to the forum, enjoy your stay. As someone who has heavily modified his vehicle, I think your truck is perfect (meaning it doesn't need anything else) the way it is.

In my experience, once you start modifying your vehicle it becomes a never ending domino effect. The negative result, you will always to have a money pit and if you don't have the cash to back it up you can go belly up quickly.

Of course this is just my personal opinion, opinions are opinions and not the truth.

Thanks for the warm welcome OGTerror. Thanks for the compliment. I appreciate it.

I can see how it could turn into a domino effect. There are so many things that I would like to do haha. But if I could only do one thing it would be to lift her enough to throw 35s on. So I'll probably end up doing that. The rest is all just wishful thinking that may or may not happen.
