$475 registration payment?!?!? Normal?

So, I just got my registration renewal, and the lovely state of California is charging me $475 to drive my truck for another year. This seems astronomical, as the most I've ever had to pay is ~200 on all my other cars. I am floored by this, how much are you all paying??

-I drive an 07 supercrew lariat with 45k miles

The People's Republic of California charged me about $450 for the first year on my F-150 in 2009, and about $375 on my Fusion in 2008.

Six months later when I regestered in Virginia, the DMV clerk looked at me like I was stupid when she saw how much I had paid in taxes and registration on my vehicles in Cali. I told her that was one of many reasons I will never live there again.

That state is constantly broke. They like to take your money and give it to everybody else. I know that this year, they temporarily ran out of money to process tax refunds.

Carpe Deez Nutz California.

$59.25 for 2 years, but I also have to pay personal property tax on the truck, which was $71 last year.

r1, "B" plates are up to $120 now? When I lived in IL, they were $78.

CA is a killer with their sliding scale - I think my sister is paying that much, if not more, for her 08 Grand Prix.

79 dollars for Davidson County TN plus 9 bucks for the smog test. So you could say I paid 88 bucks to drive it another year.

I think it's still around the $60 to $65 range here annually.

Yep, that's normal in California. Just paid mine. '06 supercrew lariat 4x4, wait for it...$495. It's ridiculous. Hell, my '69 Ranchero is $140.

I believe regular plates (pulled off the line at random) are up $99 from $87.

Personalized are up $120 from $99.
