PTM Handles, Mirror caps. DONE! pics.

Its been a lot of talk with me going all PTM with my truck one step at a time, from handles, mirror caps, emblems, and bumpers. Well I took some action and knocked two parts out. I am in good with the body shop manager of my Ford dealership so he cut me a good deal on the work, it is great knowing I got this all done with Ford quality paint and clear. Being as 2004s - 2006s are the 1 piece caps, I had to remove my caps and drive around a couple days without them. It sure looked goofy but caused no damage at all to my Power/Signal/Heat mirrors in the rain and the 1 snow day.

There was a couple mishaps.. The painter assumed I wanted the bottom half of the mirror covers smoothed and painted black too.. Now it looks slightly off with the mirror body. Only option is to buy another set of power/signal/heat mirrors and take mine back to get painted, then re-sell the other mirrors. Also the painter assumed the paint was Red Fire Metallic, which my paint is Dark Toreador Red Metallic paint code JL.. which was clearly written on the box... There was a mismatched color error with the first try, but redone for free, and the body shop manager made sure I didn't tip him for re-doing them since he wasn't happy about that part. But they all look fantastic. Before this I bought a set of handles from a 2007 FX4 with the passenger lock delete and drivers side keyless entry pad. Enjoy!

Before.

After.

Drivers side. ( Programmed to Keyless Entry for convenience )

Passenger side, with key hole cylinder delete.

Tailgate.

I am very happy with the outcome. Is now an XLT-Lariat-FX4 Lux model, aka DarrenWS6

Better photos to come. One thing to check off the list. Now onto the next part..

PTM 06/08 Front bumper ( in possession awaiting paint ), PTM Rear bumper, 09 emblems PTM & black, Painted emblems. Until next time..

Looks great! It makes a HUGE difference when you get rid of that crappy textured plastic for some nice smooth PTM!

100% difference. The difference with PTM handles and mirrors is like adding new wheels and tires. Always enjoy your updates!

Very much, especially on certain paint jobs. Sure it looks good when detail trimmed and dressed but after that wears off its back to dull.

I bought them in the classifieds here for $100, they were textured handles from a 2007 FX4. I just took them, and my mirror caps in for the body shop to sand smooth and paint.

Keep an eye in the classifieds for my old handles, I cleaned them up well and will be listing them pretty soon.
