Americantrucks.com experience

So yesterday I called Americantrucks.com to ask if they would send me new tunes for my SCT tuner I purchased with lifetime tunes from americanmuscle.com(brother company for mustangs). They told me not to use the tuner I had bc it had a mustang tune on it. Dont even plug it in or it will fry my computer. Needless to say I got in a heated conversation bc this made no sense. Of course I would never use the mustang tune on my F150 but I knew I could use the stragedy tune part. After 15 minuts of getting no where he told me that I needed to purchase another one from them specificly for my f150. FYI its the same tuner SCT 3015 for both my mustang and F150. So I called SCT to get to the bottom of this and I was right. As long as I returned mustang to stock I could use tuner on my F150. Be careful not to believe everything people tell you is the moral to the story. Americantrucks.com just lost a customer, Dont try and scam me. If you didnt want to send me tunes for my F150 bc I purchased it for my mustang just say it.

Interesting... Thanks for the feedback..

I don't believe I have been to their site, but not sure I will visit it now..

You should look into going with VMP Tuning or Troyer tunning for custom tunes!

Thumbs down

Kinda sad this relationship had to end this way. I purchased thousands of dollars worth of products from americanmuscle.com(sister website) and would have loved to continue with my F150.

I posted this experience bc they are a sponsor of this board and I didnt want them to get one over on any of the other board members. Also i am sure some people have had nothing but good experiences with them, This is just mine.

VMP and Troyer are some of the best in the business doing custom tunes

I haven't kept up with the TUning section, but I believe Troyer you will have to wait a while for custom tunes and VMP is still fairly quick.

I betcha that the "lifetime tunes" provision are only for the SAME VEHICLE you purchased the tuner for. They SHOULD have offered to SELL you new tunes for the truck. Telling you that you have to buy a whole new programmer is BS.

Agreed. Lifetime tunes usually means for the same vehicle, with no additional modifications....usually. They could have sold you the tunes for your truck, however, I wouldnt if I was them. TOo much of a liability by assuming the end user knows what he is doing.

Are you serious, you wouldnt have sent me new tunes. FYI the tuner wont allow you to put the mustang tune on the f150. It only allows you to select the vechile its plugged into (F150) and the tunes which go along with it. They make these things idiot proof, too bad americantrucks/americanmuscle doesnt do the same with its customer service reps. You almost sound like the guy I was taking to at americanmuscle/americantrucks, You and him dont know how the tuner works. And the reason it comes with lifetime tunes is for additional modifications!!! After I called back and explained to them how the tuners really work they told me they could send me tunes for the truck for $50 each. Not a bad price but who knows if I will get the original ignorant rep as the first time.

I would not expect to get new tunes written for a totally different vehicle for free. $50 does seem very fair. I have checked out the american muscle site for tunes for our mustang and the way I understood was the lifetime tune policy was for the vehicle you purchased it for and they would adjust tunes as needed for future mods.

Some dealers sell cars with lifetime oil changes. You wouldn't think that would cover every car you would ever buy would you?

I not sure what you guys read or didnt read but my issue is that they told me I couldnt even use that programer at all and wanted me to purchase a new one from them. Also told me that if I pulled the tuner into my truck that it would fry my computer. I called them to ask how I could get new tunes and if the lifetime tunes could be transfered to my truck. It was worth a shot. $50 is a great price, no problem with that.

Just tell me the truth; lifetime tunes are only for org. vechile and new tunes are $50 each. Dont lie to me and try to scare me into spending another $400. As I stated I have spent thousands of dollars through americamuscle.com and never had one issue until this.
