NOOB here
NOOB here
Whats up guys?
NOOB to the 08 F-150's here from TX. Just picked her up last weekend and I can easily say I love the truck. I'm not new to F-150's, I used to own a 2001 Black Lightning that had some minimal mods to it, but had to get rid of her because of gas ($700/month), and I have missed the truck scene severely ever since.
I had a 2007 VW Passat before this, and I will tell you coming from that to this big XLT takes a bit of learning and patience especially when a lot of your driving is done through a campus(hint the TXState in my name) where girls drive like...lets just say where girls are driving, and the parking garages are about as wide as 2 of these trucks.
With all that said, here is my 2008 XLT SuperCrew Texas Edition 5.4L TRITON (if any of you would like to inform me what the difference was the TX editions that would be appreciated)

^^yes, getting gas and that was the first time I have ever had a pump just stop on $75.00. I wept a bit on the inside.
I have big plans for her, but nothing too big until this whole college thing pays off and I land a real job, but for now my plans are to make her a street truck.
-I will definitely be removing the nerf bars (and selling them, how much are they going for?)
-PTM the chrome bumpers
-Ditch the chrome grille and go with something darker (Chrome grille for sale)
-Ditch the stock chrome wheels and go with a nice 22'' wheel (suggestions)(how much do the stock chrome wheels sell for on relatively new BF Goodrichs?)
-Dumped exhaust
-Some sort of valance
-Stripper pole in the back
Any suggestions are definitely welcome, as I am new to these types of trucks and not sure whats out there for them!

I would think that 20"s would be big enough, especially if you are going to lower it. Hit the exhaust section up for some good suggestions on exhaust systems.

Congrats on the truck! I don't take mine into parking garages unless theres at least 8' of clearance, partially because I don't trust those signs, and partially because it's a good excuse not to use parking garages!
As far as I know the Texas Editions are just some badges and maybe some chrome. Pretty much boils down to a marketing thing.
Tint those front windows! You'll be glad you did when summer hits.
How did you afford $700/mo in gas when you were in high school???? Unless you're going back to college a little later in life?

The $700 a month was only for one month, the next month the truck was sold (parents moved about 45 mins away from work/school, kinda screwed me over)
Thanks for the welcome fellas
Heh, yeah I didn't want to fill up there but I had been driving for about 2 hours and had to use the bathroom so I killed two birds with one stone.

X2 Best improvement you can make on the bumper IMO.
You will want to get a paintable front bar, painting over chrome can be done with proper prep work but you still always run into chips later down the road.
Besides it gives you an excuse to get the fog lights. Very easy to do and wire up. This was one of the first things i did to mine.
The rear you can just just prep it right and shoot paint on it as it wont receive as much abuse as the front.
Pretty much. It was an appearance/marketing package that gives you running boards a badge and special pricing options when bought new from the dealer
Mine is a de-badged TX edition.
U bolts wont do him a bit of difference, and i believe it is a 2wd.
For leveling just get a pair of rear 2" drop shackles. Relatively cheap mod.
For a 22 inch wheel with just a level out back youll want a little tire on there. I started out with 285-40s all around and it rode fine but you could definitely tell it had large heavy wheels and felt a lot of the road.
I have now moved up to 285 45 and just that 5% difference in sidewall made a large difference in ride. You could do a 305-40 as well but i dont particularly care for it if its on less than a 10" wide wheel.
My truck look exactly like yours but with a silver two tone...
glad to hear your going for the street truck look.
Heres what a 285-40 on 22s with a 2" dropped shackle looks like.

Looks a bit lower due to the body kit though.

It is a 2wd. I have thought about doing the drop shackles, but I did them on my lightning and didn't see too much of a difference, so I'm not sure if its worth it. The 22's won't be added for a while, so I may try a couple of different things until I get the stance where I want it, then see what size wheels I want to go with under there.
Thanks for the info, good lookin truck!
