This may be a stupid question, but is it possible to put an 09 tailagte on 04-08 models?

yes it is possible, it just looks completely wrong in doin so unless there is major mods to the body lines of the tailgate, to match with the 04-08s

The top/back of the tailgate will stick out past the top of the rear bedsides because of the lip the 09-up tailgates have. Not advised.

One of my future plans after college and when things are taken care of is a 09+ front end and bed

one thing i have thought about that "may" be doable is putting on the satin metal tailggate accent like on the platinums have that, it looks throwback reminds me of my dad's 96 f150 tailgate with the satin/brushed metal trim that extends to the ends in betweene the tailamps

i believe, and yes i think its a belief that our rounded heads and grilles are much more cleaner looking and more "softened" to make the truck pretty, the cuttup lines of the heads + tails just don't do it for me as my truck does

I don't care for the 09-up F150 front clip. It contains every geometric shape imaginable, which is not a good thing in my book.

i agree stealth i guess geometric sums up for everything i said, to the OP the tailgate lines on the 09+ don't align with our tailamps either.
