Mine was built in Kansas City, and I have not had a airbag light yet. Thank god I cant imagine a airbag going off in my face just out of the blue! F-That!

recall was just on fox news. did a search and found this to be latest news:

NHTSA pressures Ford into mass F-150 truck recall on airbag wiring danger

Feb 23, 2011

Under pressure from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Ford Motor Co. said it will recall 144,000 F-150 pickup trucks from model years 2005-2006 for what the automaker, in a statement, characterized as "a relatively low risk of inadvertent air bag deployments."

As first reported in The Detroit News, NHTSA's investigators found that the truck's driver-side air bag wires can potentially be chafed by a sharp metal edge of the horn plate during normal vehicle operations or as a result of road vibration. If the wire insulation is cut, a short circuit might cause the air bag to deploy, said the findings.

The recall affects 135,000 trucks in the U.S. and 9,000 in Canada, all assembled at Fords Norfolk, Virginia plant operation. The report said the automaker's move is smaller in scope than what NHTSA had originally requested. A November 2010 NHTSA memo had asked that 1.3 million F-150 trucks from the 2004-2006 model years be recalled after dozens of reports of injury due to inadvertent airbag deployments.

I don't think you read the article.

"Under government pressure" is in the first freaking sentence of the article.

It ain't like Ford voluntarily did this, they and every manufacturer out there would sweep all their dirty secrets under the carpet if they could get away with it.

If you can't figure this one out on your own you can call Ford at 1-800-392-3673. Have your VIN # handy and they will run the number and advise you of not only this recall, but they will tell you if there are any other open recalls on your truck. This is especially helpful if you bought the truck used as i did. I found 3 other recalls issues prior to my purchasing the truck, but the original owner was a good guy and had it serviced for all 3, thus no open recalls.

You can also log on to www.flmowner.com and run your VIN # there.

Called the dealership today and mine didn't fall under the recall. Least I don't have to worry about that anymore.

if total costs of the active recall far exceeds lawsuit cases. i think they would be willing to take the chance. if it's pushed federally they have no choice.
