Well, about one month ago, my airbag light came on, then off, then on, then off... then staued on... My truck, is an 05, built in Norfolk.

Question, how long do I wait to contact them, obviously, my truck is in the first couple stages before it goes pop. I have seen people who have had an airbag go off in their face, it aint pretty.

Don't wait. Bring it in ASAP.

Also, from the owner manual:

Air bag readiness: If this light fails
to illuminate when ignition is turned
to ON, continues to flash or remains
on, have the system serviced
immediately
by your authorized
dealer. A chime will also sound when a malfunction in the supplemental
restraint system has been detected.

Exactly... it's better than it suddenly going pop in your face...

Mine was made in 6/6/06. No wonder those evil spark plugs were all breaking

Looks like I squeaked by, this time.

Now I get to see if I get a letter...
When a truck is purchased used, how does the manufacture know to contact the current owner about a recall ? Maybe they can't or don't.
Can my servicing dealer run the VIN to see if my truck falls under the recall ?

my old 06 was built in Aug. 2005. From what I can gather, that was a month or so outside the recall time frame. Glad to be in a 2008 regardless.

I sent a message to them and was told that the recall has yet to be listed in their database, that nothing is posted yet. Entering your vin will show nothing yet.

also, let me rephrase my question... How long after a recall is announced, can you take it in... I called my local Ford dealer and they said they know nothing of the recall and that I can bring the truck in, but I'll be charged for the repair, if something is found wrong. So, now that Ford did say, yup, we got a problem, does it become entered in whoevers system to recognize the recall?
