anyone using a mag hytec trans pan?

notice a decrease in trans temps? how do you guys like yours. im gonna be doing my trans filter and fluid here again soon, thinking about adding one of these.

im guessing its the MAG4R70W-DD

http://www.4wheelparts.com/prodDetai...no=MAG4R70W-DD

that link seems to be down right now, but it has two for fords on this site. one for a ranger, and one for f150/expedition but both say 4r70w. i thought our transes were the 75w? same pan?

couldnt find one on american trucks where are you guys getting them for a better price?

edit: just got the mag hytec site to work for me, it is that one

http://www.mag-hytec.com/store/index...products_id=13

that a decent price im finding? i like that price because it comes with the right filter for it.

is this an upgrade worth doing?

It keeps the trans a bit cooler, how much I can't say as it has been about two years since I installed mine. I'd do it again in a heart beat. Remember to run good fluid as that is part of the package to keeping the trans happy and a bit cooler.

I ran what the diesel guys run for oil and used Schaeffer oil. No problems and the oil is clean, very clean after 35K miles. I bought a 5 gallon bucket and also ran it in my transfer case, killed two birds with one stone.

I think I paid around 225 for the cover, can't remember where I bought it though. Oh and the oil was expensive, really expensive.

I just got the pan, but am waiting on a new transmission. My trans would run around 148*-150* stock, so I'm excited to see what a difference this will make.

Damn, you don't even need it with your temps that low up in alaska. In summer here with the 110 F weather my trans runs up in the 170-180 range at times.

I am looking to get one of these as well...Try ebay, best price I have found at $261 shipped.

From what I gather you need 6 qts of ATF for just a pan/filter change (Is that correct)?

Im going with teh Matching Diff cover as well at the same time. My truck is about to hit 50k mi.

anyone have any real numbers from their tuner to show differences in temps?

The pan doesn't do anything for slow in town stop and go driving....temps are about the same as the stock pan...

hey 141 is a good temp for highway cruising. what would it have done without the pan, like 150 or so in those same conditions?

so it mainly shows its cooling abilities on highways while pulling stuff? that's what im worried about is constant shifting for hills. i live at 1800 feet elevation.

im probably going to have to invest in one of these. is the best price the one on mag hytecs site? im trying to get the pan and filter.

edit:now you got me wanting a cts, back up camera option is a plus.

With the stock pan usually about 154-160....
Now with the new pan 140-150....

A larger tranny cooler will also help you when you pull loads...I drive at elevations from 1000-7000ft

They are the cheapest not unless you can find a used one...

The CTS is a nice unit....throw some custom tunes in and rock on....

it all boils down to if im going to put my dvd receiver in, i know i for sure want a back up camera at some point.

I've got the tranny cooler too, but my trans just burnt up last week for no reason. So I got the pan for extra production and it has a spot for my temp gauge I ordered from Summit

Check 4wheelparts, the pan was $238 plus shipping.
