Slow acceleration

Slow acceleration
I know that an F150 is not a race truck, but it seems like when I am at 40mph or so, and I floor it, it slowly creeps through second gear. At first I thought it was just going into third gear when I was flooring, but my RPMs are suggesting differently. I go into second gear and I can watch my tachometer slowly creep up. Is it normal that when flooring the pedal, the truck creeps up to speed so slowly? When I first got the truck it did not seem like it was this slow through second gear. Just wondering if anyone else can confirm it should be doing this.

yep at about 40 you are over the cut off point for shifting down to first, so you are at the lowest rpm you can be in while in 2nd gear, which will have very low power, so in otherwords you are not in the power band yet and only way to fix it is to put a supercharger on or or put 4.10 or 4.56 gears in or make a 6 speed trans with closer gears in the truck

You shouldn't floor it when in overdrive. That overdrive shift into 2nd is very rough on the transmission since it first must unlock the torque converter, then shift. Push the throttle halfway to get the torque converter to unlock (RPMs will rise and you'll feel it) and THEN hammer it so it can shift after.
Look into custom tuning. These trucks are dogs from the factory. Once I added custom tunes (with a couple other bolt ons) I gained nearly 45hp/50trq on the dyno and it would scream through 2nd gear.

BTW - disabling O/D with the button before nailing it will help reduce stress on the tranny... 4-2 downshifts are hard on it.
