Radio keeps reseting on startup

My truck's radio has been acting very weird. Lately the radio is being reset when I turn on the truck. It did this once a few weeks ago and I wasnt sure what to think... Then today it happened twice within 3 startups. Its like as if you unplug the battery and plug it back in and the radio goes through the sequencing of changing all the cd's and the clock is set to 12:00 and it goes to AM.

2005 f150 xlt 5.4 70,500miles

I do have a amp and 1 10inch woofer installed. But ive had them in for about 3months now and it hadnt been a problem before.

Thank you for your help

I had this problem with my radio. Ended up being a bad battery. Crazy thing was that it affected my A/C as well. Once replaced, no problems and the A/C blew out very cold air again.

Get it checked.

Sounds like your battery is weak. When you start it is dragging the voltage down below what is necessary to retain your presets, so the radio does a reset. A sign you battery is going away.

Mine was doing the same thing about 2 weeks ago. Went to wally world picked up a new one. Never had that problem since!!

Might not be a bad Idea to do a thorough cleaning of your connectors while your battery is out. Though some protector spray on when your done. Keep that corrosion off of there!!
That's what I did anyways...

Very strange that it is the battery, I bought the truck used at 62,600 miles and the previous owner told me he put a new battery in it recently. I have one of those obd-II displays "ULTRA-GAUGE" and my battery voltage is always above 12volts

It may have over 12v
But how many CCA's does it have?

When I took mine in, I had 12.73 Volts, But Battery was supposed to have 650 CCA's. It only had 224.

Its not always the volts you need to worry about it.

yaaa makes sense... Ok, this weak battery might even explain why lately the truck wouldnt turn on the first crank. And that my AC was not very cold....

haha god I love the forums <3

Thank you everyone
