Bicycle Bed Mount (Pictures included)

This weekend I made myself a bicycle mount for my truck.

I order the fork holder attachment on amazon and then went to lowes and got a 2X6 piece of wood that was pre-treated and then painted it black. I cut down the wood to a length of 67.5 inches and it fits in the groove of the bed-liner really nicely. I had to force it down into it, but its very snug and doesn't move much. There is enough room to mount 3 bicycles on it, maybe 4. Also, you can always put another bicycle in front of it depending on the bike.

I don't haul bikes, but if I did, I would make myself one of these. Very creative, useful, and looks pretty good to boot. Nice work.

Very inventive. I may borrow your design. I try to ride 10 miles each day no matter what the weather and I would enjoy taking my bike along on some of my out of town business trips so I can stay consistent.

I highly recommend this setup. It was quick and easy. Took me a little over 2 hours to do. (The painting was what took so long.)

Also, i had no problems with the bike moving around. I drove pretty aggressively with it, and it just sat in place while my truck bounced around.

Nice bike and nice rack

I have a fiberglass tonneau on my truck, so I'll just stink my Fuji under there, but if I didn't I'd make one of these. Nice jib

I might have to do something like that. How much did you pay for the mount? When I go somewhere out of town with the kayak I usually throw one of my mountain bikes in with it. I've often wondered how much easier it would be to pack other stuff like fishing rods and ice chests if I could stand the bike up.

The mount was about $20, but I wanted to get one with the option of adding a lock to it. I think I saw one for as low as $10 though.

I have done a similar style as well, only difference is I used a 2x6 and put the clamps on the tall side of the 2x. This fits in the far rear pocket of my bedliner as another poster said it's easier to put the bikes in rear wheel first and clamp on while standing in front of the tailgate - especially because I have a cap on my truck. 3 mountain bikes fit nicely, and as you said no movement when clamped down. Nice job!

Looks good. I bolted mine to the top of my bed rail on the side, think I'll do this instead

Necessity is the mother of invention. You can't help but admire the creativness and the simplicity of the design.
