5.4 stall for no reason ?

2004 5. superscrew, 74K, air force intake, Magowflow SI/DO, superchip (old) tuner set 87

Normal driving.

replaced sparks with no problem at 40K

change oil every 4-5K with mobil one.

I noticed this when i turns quick left or right it stalls.

NO CEL light-- nothings warning light up...

It happens 3-4x in a few months...I turned motor on, it started up quick like normal..

what is possible cause this ?

Thanks!
Jake

Canned tunes with a CAI? It may be running excessively lean.........

Does it do it with the stock tune loaded?

Yep start here. Clean TB and replace that fuel filter. Doubt it's the FPDM but I'd check it for obvious signs of crackage.

There have been a couple posts about this issue lately.... Strange.

I think the clue here is its quits on quick turns-left or right. To me sounds electrical. aLoose connection..

To the OP- Do you have power - dash lights etc. after it stalls?

You can be running lean and never know it. Just not so lean as to throw a code. Running lean over a long period of time can do some damage to valves and cylinders. That is why the arguement some throw out wanting proof there is damage does not hold water. An engine that might have lasted 200,000 miles had it not been running lean, may fail in 100,000. Running one wide open in a very lean condition will usually give you much quicker and more visable damage.

I see....SHould i remove it and put stock back on now ? Its now 73K

How do i know if it runs lean or not ? Is there any test for it ?

I wonder if old superchip tuner (troyer) 1714 will adjust it lean/rich ?

Thanks!

A dyno with someone that knows how to tune properly can tell you if it's lean and can do a custom tune to fix it, if it's needed.

Also, you can get tunes written for specific calibration that allows for the intake from Troyer, PHP, VMp and othrs.

My truck is all stock cept for a k&n filter with all the maintenance done regular. Does it if I was turning, hit railroad tracks, and today did it while driving down the highway. 06 5.4 with 60k miles. Something is for sure wrong.
