New PCM

If I was to replace my PCM, would I just need to get one from the same year as my truck, hook it up, and have my dealership flash it? Would it be possible for me to just get a 2007 F150 5.4 XLT's PCM and swap it with mine?

What requirements would it need to meet to work in my truck? I want to get a tuner, but I do not want to be screwed out of my warranty in case anything else goes wrong with this truck.

You must get the PCM reflashed/reprogrammed. Its supposed to be that way to match your VIN # for your specific engine and your specific transmission. The Ford Dealership usually only charges an hour of labor to do the reflash. If you put a chip on it make sure you keep the tuner so you can take put it back to stock when you take it the Ford or else they reflash the stock one onto your PCM and you're stuck with a dead tuner because it has your stock one already on the programmer.

Well my plan was to have 2 PCMs, a tuned one, and a stock one. This way when ever it goes to the dealership, I can simply swap out my tuned PCM and put the stock one back on and they won't be able to tell I have a tuner. I am only doing this because my dealer has tried to screw me out of warranty work because I removed the rear bench.

All of your truck's information is stored in the PCM, including mileage, codes etc. The dealr will know something up as soon as they hook up to teh PCM.

Smile Pcm

I have been looking for a used PCM for a year with no luck. What have other folks done when they needed a new PCM? MH

Well if all they can see is mileage and codes, thats not an issue for me. I don't ever plan to sell the vehicle, so mileage is not an issue, and if the dealer questions why my mileage does not go up, I will say I do not drive the vehicle. As it is now, I put about 2K miles on in 3 months, so about 8k miles a year. My vehicle has another 3 years on the warranty(powertrain), and about 30K miles left, so time would void it out before my mileage anyway.

You miss the point. It will not work.
