Engine Toasted
When my wife's old Impala had a bad cat the car couldn't get out of it's own way. It was replaced under warranty and ran perfect after that. Those cars had chronic problems with the cats for some reason.
Yep I said only 05's. If you read the letter it says only 05's. Mine was built 11/04 which means the engine was built even earlier and mine had the bad ones. Some say they switched mid 05 to back the non defective injectors, but who really knows. This may be why they blanket cover the 05's.
If you ever take a look at the list of different part#'s for injectors in the '04 NB up through '07 or '08 you see quite a few different #'s, and interestingly, a pretty wide variation in some of the prices too. They may not have made all those changes because of bad injectors, but there certainly are more than 2 part #'s, and prices in those years. I really feel for the people who fall outside of what the judgement called for (only '05's) and yet had failed injectors (from the bad batches) that cost them an engine and their truck wasn't titled '05.

Truck went back in yesterday and new Cat was installed and its running great. I asked them about doing a fuel filter change while it was in and they wanted $75

I bought a filter on the way home and tool at a O'Reilly's for about $24 and will do the change out next week probably.
