Sounds good. I'm happy I snapped a rod though since I got a free short block at 72,000 miles.

I have an '05 as well and am concerned about this injector issue. Since the goal with my particular truck is to keep it as an original, low-mileage, pristine example of this era Ford truck, I have seriously considered having my dealer replace all of my injectors as a "pre-emptive strike" against this problem.

Thoughts.....???

It's your truck and your money....
But
If mine were a 05...
I would change them to keep myself from getting stranded....

Its a great idea if you have the money....out of pocket it's about $600-800 at the dealer for all 8 with labor.

I would have changed them all but don't currrently have the funds as I am working on finishing a remodel of my house and landscaping this year. I will def. get them changed before the 11 yr/120K warranty runs out though; they are ticking time bombs.

I had just replaced my COPS, Plugs 20K miles ago, fuel filter, cleaned Throttle body and MAF sensor and truck was running great for about a week prior to this. It happened very quickly and there were no signs of anything wrong before the injector stuck open. I stopped at a stop sign, got back on the throttle and there was a noticeable lack of throttle response. Within a period of 45 sec to a minute I knew it was an injector that had stuck after reading the horror stories on the boards. The lack of any power in the lower RPM band would make it nearly impossible to limp home if you had to stop for any reason (traffic, stop light, stop sign). Anyone having this issues needs to have the truck towed if they are more than a mile from home as you will risk damaging a lot more than its worth not having to wait for a tow. The engine did alright over 1500 RPM but as soon as it dipped below that it shook horrendously and black smoke was coming out the exhuast pipe. You could smell raw ruel and the truck was bucking and backfiring like no ones business. I would expect the engine to die on and off if you try and drive with the injector stuck for an extended period of time and will hydrolock the motor on restarts.

I'm still amazed that Ford would risk the other 7 injectors in my engine failing and causing a HUGE repair bill for them than just replacing them since one already failed. I know they are a business but I don't see the cost of replacing the block a possible 7 times outweighing replacing 7 fuel injectors and not having to worry about engine replacement.

Thanks for all the help everyone. My cats are only warrantied for another 1500 miles to 80K on government regs but as long as I can semi relate it back to the injector issue my dealer said they will replace and bill Ford.

I called FCS and argued the 7 other injector thing with them, they weren't buying it. I suppose they like the odds that they aren't going to fail, and it's a gamble indeed.

I suspect Ford's play in this is purely a financial calculation. Especially as the '05 vehicles age and change hands from the original owners to others, the odds of Ford getting tagged for claims on this issue go down exponentially. You could easily argue that from a customer service standpoint this policy sucks, but from a financial perspective it (sadly) makes perfect sense.....

Had my bank 1 cat replaced (under emissions warranty) after the spark plugs were replaced. Hope you don't have to wait for the cats to come in, mine took about 3 weeks I think.

You can't tell them anything. We know nothing and they know everything...

I cleared the code too

They always try and get me to pay for the diagnostic so they "know what's wrong". My service manager knows I know my truck so never asks. But if I go in on days she's not there its quite funny.

I do like the fact that they never give me a hastle, always call me with updates every few hours and let me know early if the truck is going to have to stay overnight. She will also have them change out parts if I give them the codes after I clear them. Reason I cleared the Cat DTC is I want to know if something else fails besides that and illuminates the light.

Hopefully I won't have to wait for a Cat to come in.

I have a 07 should I be worried about this issue? If not what should I be worried about besides the stuck spark plugs? Hold up wait? Isn't the COPS spark plugs, lol
