Engine Toasted
05's with the 5.4 are the only ones with the suspect injectors, no other years used those crap-o injectors.
07 should be fine but I know I have read a few stories on the boards talking about people with 07's having stuck injectors and needing new blocks....not covered by Ford.
The COPS are what sit on top of the spark plug and provide spark to the plug. COP=Coil on Plug which is what our engines use vs the old plug wires.
If they crack or get water in them they will cause a misfire and you will feel it at idle. Ford charges about $89 per COP vs Global Automotive charges $102 for all 8
Bad news....3 CEL for the cat on bank 2 in the last week. Truck sat at the dealer all day just for them to tell me that "yes, the cat on bank 2 is bad". Good news obviously is they are going to fix it for free. Bad news; there are none in the area and they have to order one which could be in the shop in a few days...or a month.
Any problems with driving around with a bad cat besides polluting more?

Ever wonder why the parts guy almost has to have your ser.# to tell you how much air to put in the tires??? The aforementioned IS the reason!
Yep I said only 05's. If you read the letter it says only 05's. Mine was built 11/04 which means the engine was built even earlier and mine had the bad ones. Some say they switched mid 05 to back the non defective injectors, but who really knows. This may be why they blanket cover the 05's.
When was this injector issue? Was it only 2005 models? I have a 2004, built in March 2004 and so far it's been perfect, regarding the engine. Did the 2004's ever have the injector problem?
Oh I just saw the replies about the 2004's. Sorry. Still would like a good answer if someone knows for sure which range of 5.4's were involved in this.

If you have an '04 it's not covered by the extended warranty -- period. Now could you have injectors that were made by the same company who supplied the defective ones -- who knows? I'm not sure you'd ever be able to find out.....
So far, so good. My truck has been great. If something major like this ever pops up, it may be a good excuse to buy a new truck. As it stands, I plan on at least another 3 years with this one though...unless something major happens.
So far only bad performance at higher RPM which I expected with it not exhaling the air as quickly.
