DDM Tuning HID's - Issue and piss poor customer service
So I know I am not around a lot, but I do read. One of the things I did install after several weeks of researching is HID headlights. I went with the DDM Tuning Hi/Low set, 55w back in June.
For the last few months I have been flickering on and off of both bulbs. I tried switching the bulbs/ballasts, double checked the harness and all connections, and of course called the company.
After trying everything, they said to ship everything back... here is where the issue starts. I shipped it back and it arrived today. When I had originally installed, I did not plan to do it 2nd class so I had to extend the harness to route it properly along the firewall. I called DDM and they said to do it. 4 foot was never going to work. So I did modify it, using the best soldered connections, and of course I tested it upon install.
They called today and notified me that the bulbs and ballasts were fine and I was SOL on the harness due to the modification. I of course was not happy to hear it and complained as they told me to extend it. Magically the guy who I spoke to had no record of the call nor cared, all he wanted was his $12 return shipping and mishandling fee (!).
All in all, I am not happy and will not do business with them again. This is part rant, part warning to others, and part question if anyone else has this issue.
Those lights were so nice to....

ok and just for the sake of asking why is it you would expect them to return your money on a modified part?? it doesnt matter if they told you to do it or not. its not a part they can test for failure or put back into stock. it is un-sellable. you modified ityou pay for it. kinda along the lines of say you install an aftermarket part on your truck and it fails. you expect the ford dealer to warranty the part for you still?? aint gonna happen cause its modified.
They will not even test the harness or sell me a new one without buying the whole kit, including bulbs/ballasts. And then they screw me on the return shipping on my dime.
I haven't had any issues with my 35w kits yet, we'll see how long they hold up. Sucks they shafted you... but I guess thats the true american way. i'll make sure if i have any issues to do it over email so they can't say they didn't tell me to. did you do fogs too?
I have been running cheap hid kits for 5 years, and just have had a few problems, with about 10 kits in all the vehicles at home, all hid are made in the same place CHINA, and with the same parts, most of then for the same manufacturer they just change labels.
But for the price now days, you can complain that much, just get another kit, the first early failure from a HID happens in this vehicle, and i just order another kit, in case other part fail i have some spare parts.

I have sooo many HID kits its not even funny. I have 4 9007 bulbs, two 9006 bulbs, six ballasts, three wiring harnesses
Your first mistake was getting a 55W system. Those cheap Chinese "55W" aren't really 55W. They are 35W. The flickering you described is an in-house ballast failure (probably from juicing it to get higher output). All it does is drain the life expectancy and give you about 10% brightness and 80% more glare to oncoming drivers.
If you want good HIDs, go online and find Phillips brand D2S bulbs, get some AMP adapters, and OEM ballasts from Bosch or something.
