The thing you have to beware of with a smaller light like the Hella 500's is having enough space to dissipate the heat from the bulb. I have a set of Hella 500's on my Scion xB and absolutley love them. In fact, I think I like the beam pattern better than the 550's I used to have in my last truck. But, the 550's have a bit more air space inside to dissipate heat, so I ran 130 watt bulbs in them and still just run the 55 watt bulbs in the Toaster. Trust me though, even with "only" 55 watts, I think yo'll be impressed.

I have mine mounted where the lights mount at the same height as the turn signals. I think it looks fluid that way, but I believe we went through this and since your bumper is different than mine they wont mount the same way.

yeah it was you watson i knew that, i didnt wanna post it though incase you didnt want a bunch of people asking you to make them some mounts. so yours is not like buckys, right, its not the kind with the angle iron across the whole front of the truck? i really like them being a little lower, but the angle iron way is super easy to install.

has anyone used, or know anyone with a set of those blackout 500's? i think they would be pretty cool, but if the fact that they are black kills light output the regular ones are going in.

i can put a 55 watt silverstar h3 in a 500 safely though right?

No, mine wasn't angle iron. It was two vertical bars with one horizontal bar mounted on it. Basically. haha.

Yeah....love them! They are really bright with the stock 55watt bulbs they came with. I ordered 100watt Hella bulbs to put in them, but havnt yet. They arent completely black when off though...but they dont show as much chrome as a regular off road set.

bucky after looking at the measurments of your lights and the hellas i want, (500ff's) mine will be taller, that puts the top of the driving light close to the top of the grille. anyone have any ideas on how to make them mount a little lower? i guess cutting and welding i could make a drop bracket sort of thing, but thats allot of work. theres not enough room infront of the bar to find a light that mounts behind is there? like where the light mounts near where the bulb is on the back of the housing?

i tihnk the mount on the hellas will swing back, so i can mount it to the upright part of the angle iron. if this is true does anyone have any ideas on how i could get a piece of angle iron or something strong enough to be flat? for instance if i had a yard stick that was longer and much thicker, then i could just get another piece of iron, and drill two holes in it, to drop down the way i mount it.

anyone know that if i mount a hella to a surface thats vertical, and not horizontal, if they will aim up a little bit or will i be maxed out then? would a thick piece of strap metal be strong enough to keep them from wobbling around?

bucky your bar, does it mount also to where the temp sensor is, or is it out further? so does it mount to the headlights only , or the 2 headlights and the center piece infront of the condensor?

in other words like this

would something like this work? has anyone ever mounted a light to an upright surface as opposed to the light sitting on a flat surface?

i think this can work guys. i think i can take a piece of angle iron and cut out one of the flat sections, leaving only the back section, and mount it to there, or mount it to an extension piece like shown above.

or,

i could mount an angle iron bar upside down, so the horizontal part is on the top, and the vertical part is closest to the condenser, then i can use an extension piece of flat bar to drop where the light mounts down a few inches. then i can just hope the top part wont be int he way of making the lights face forward.

edit. or i could mount the lights upside down if its high enough.
