How to: 04-08 OEM headlights FX-R Projector HID retrofit.
Thank You for posting this, I was able to adjust my lights to be level thanks to you and this post...
I never tried it yet, but I'm glad it worked out for you. Did you bend it a little or lots?
Infact with the adjustment for my drop in DDMs that put the cutoff right at 1" drop at ~22feet.
Now if only any of the local auto parts stores had the duplicolor spray paint for my Harvest Gold. Making it a PITA to paintmatch the Gatlling.
Powerz, Where did you put the inverters for the CCFL Halos? I know you have a different housing than me but maybe it will help anyway. If anyone watching this has a 99 year range with halos let me know, maybe It will help me with mine.

I just tie wrapped them behind the headlights. I think to the wires going to the ballasts. The headlights hide all that stuff, and you can't see it from the engine compartment.
How did you secure the shroud onto the projector?? both topics I have seen that cover doing you own retrofit doesn't tell how they mounted the shroud. I an even going the same route you did with the halo inside the gatling so you'd know best how to mount them.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
I just used the same stuff as i used to seal the headlights with. I think i used 4 dabs, top/bottom/left/right. Back far enough so you don't see any black ooze out.
Is that 4 dabs on the inside of the outer part of the housing or the inner tabs RIGHT next to the projector??
Okay, I noticed this on mine when I was driving next to a wall and I noticed it in Fabian06SC's picture also. Basically the light reflects off of the area chrome next to the reflector/ projector and into the car next to your truck, so basically I'm trying to see if anyone else is having this issue? Only because it seems to blind the driver next to you, only at a certain angle and height though.
I believe the area I circled is why the issue happens.

I see this looks pretty bright in the dark here, How bright it it in real life (Day and Night)? I got a set from TRS and they aren't as bright as I had expected?
Compared to BMWs going down the road (in the daytime) that look like they have their headlights on until you get right at them as see it's their Halos, How do yours compare???What kind did you get and where from, I noticed in your picture that yours looks WAY brighter and thicker then mine too.

I think the bmws look brighter because the CCFL is actually on the front of the lense, not behind the shroud like powers did his.
AND LS, it shows in that pic but my truck doesnt really have any glares or hotspots visible to the side. That pic shows it because it is at that angle. The projector actually comes out almost even with the chrome area so there isnt really a way for the beam of light to bounce off of it. I guess i could blind someone but they would have to be hovering two to three feet over the hood and about a foot and a half away from the light at the same plane as the light sits.
What shrouds are you using and are they all the way back to the base of the projector? I notice mine has very very light spots due to the edges of the shroud but nothing that would blind you.

I have the apollo shrouds and they pushed back to the base of the projector. I think it may be me being too picky, anyway here is a couple of shots of what I'm talking about.
One not showing the glare...

One showing the glare just moved 6 inches or so.

Here is the light it creates way overexposed ...

Same picture how it actually should looks...

And last but not least everyones' favorite pictures the cutoff picture...

The image is slightly off because I shook the camera a little and caused the hot spots. But that is 4300K no other light sources.

It was very dark! But the halo was pushed up to the very front of the shroud, and it was bright. When I did the assembly I never pushed the halo on as far as I could have. So it is a lot dimmer now. I wouldn't depend on them as a DRL, but they do look cool at dusk. The K's in them are higher whitish then a yellowish BMW halo so they are harder to see in daylight also less lumen's. Also hiding them behind the shroud takes away around 65% of the lumen's.
I wouldn't worry too much about that glare issue. You will always get a bit of glare every time there is a clear headlight lens in front of the projector even factory.
