Question I am new to this site.

Something to look into anyway. Thanks for the info.

Another thought, would that also show that the cam position sensor code?
Like Woodied I am new to this site. After reading all the posts about his '06, I found that what is happening to me right now has been happening to other people as well. I have an '05 Supercrew 4x4 with 70k miles on it and that is what is happening to me according to the Ford Service Dept. that has had my truck for over a week now. Same symptoms, I went to take it to the Auto Parts store down the street to have the codes read so we would know what to fix on it and when it finally did kick over it sounded like a bag of hammers was clanging around in there. I got it down to the auto part store and had them plug in thier code reader and there were 11 codes out some of them were duplicated. (What caught my attention on here was #3 & #4 misfires and the fuel injector causing the engine to hydrlock.) At that point I didn't know what the problem was and neither did the people at the auto parts store. Their advice was to take it to the Ford Service Center and have them figure it out. I went to try and make it back home but it wouldn't start. My husband tried to jump start it to no avail. So the next morning I had it towed to Ford. They told me that it had Hydrolocked because of a leaking fuel injector and when it was started it bent a rod. I'm no mechanic but I'm thinking that must have been the bag of hammers clanging I heard. I am still waiting to hear if Ford will warranty it or not because I'm not the original owner of the truck. I'm hoping they will because I certainly don't have 3 or 4 grand to replace the motor. Thank You All for sharing on this site I have learned a lot about the issues connected to the '05's and '06's.
I wanted to ask a question Woodied, what is a COP that you changed out in the motor that you have in there now? I'm sure glad I ran across this posting of yours.... lillOL

Sounds as if you had injectors leaking and hydrolocked the engine. If that is the case, you should be covered by Ford's extended warranty. Here is a link to the letter.

lillOL,

Sorry to hear of your porblems.
As Bluejay said the leaky injector should be covered under Fords extended warrenty for the known issue with the 05 injectors.
A COP is a Coil over Plug. each plug has one and provides current to the plug to produce the spark. Highly doubt you have this prpoblem of a bad coil.

If Ford doesn't cover you I will have a 5.4 3v to fit your truck in about two weeks.

Good Luck

Thanks Guys!

Thanks Woodied and Bluejay I appreciate the replies. I still haven't heard wether Ford is going to warranty it out yet for sure. I talked to them today at the service dept. and they got the go ahead from Ford to tear the engine down and find out what caused it to fail. I asked about the leaky fuel injector and the guy said they wanted to find out why it failed. I would think that if they have this problem on other '05 5.4L's they would have some idea already don't you?

NP,

Good to hear that they got the go ahead.
Each dealer is different and they may not have run into the problem before, or their techs haven't. But that is only a guess.

Good Luck

Better be a short block because that's what I got! lol

I had to foot the bill to have the other seven injectors changed. And my cats were not fouled because it happened so quickly. Not that it matters now anyway! lol

Congrats on using the 07M08 program! Welcome to the club! lol

I've read a lot about stuck injectors, about "the bad ones" .... but so far I have missed refernces as to when / if Ford changed injectors to better injectors from different supplier, etc to fix the problem?

Is there a "cutoff date" or some special marking of the bad vs good injectors?

Excellent!
Ford's letter refers to 05s only.

Thanks, I see that .... but I was just wondering if that covered it?

Maybe it does? Injectors aren't rocket science any longer. They've been around quite awhile now and many vehicle models seem to NEVER suffer hydrolock.

later then ......

Ford got a batch of bad injectors from their supplier. They could stick either open or closed. If they stuck open, it would cause the cylinder to fill with gas and then hydrolock. It can happen at anytime with any injected engine, but in this case there was a rash of them due to the faulty injectors. I have an 05 that has 132,000 on it with no injector problem. Guess I was one of the lucky ones.
