Try some Black Wow.

If that doesn't work, try some Showroom New.

I've been searching for quite a while. From what I can tell its a Ford only part-about 80 each. If your lucky, you might be able to find some at a junkyard=I was able to last week for 40 for both of them. As far as painting them prep it and try SEM trim black-used it on my old ones and worked great

I would repaint them. I dont think its wax because mine had the same problem after being in the Florida sun and your in Texas so its no better. They like chalk up and you can scrape it with your finger nail.

Take them off, prep them and paint them with a plastic primer then spray some rustoleum semi flat on there. I used rustoleum fine texure semi flat and I love the slight texture it gave. Heres a pic of the finished product because I also did the fender flares. I still have to do the door handles.

Theyre faded. I painted mine with Krylon Fusion satin black, and they look amazing. I thought...yea right....paint..that will look horrible. But they came out amazing, you can't even tell they were painted...they look like brand new caps!

Mine on my 05 are starting turn a little gray. Just like the ones on my old 2000 did. I guesse after about 5 years they start to fade some.

I used bumper and trim black from Griot's Garage. It worked very well. I also used it on my flares, door handles and mirrors. It dyes the plastic. Doesn't cover the original grain like paint. And it's cheap.
