Oil change question

Dipstick calibration / variances versus oilpan dimensional stability and a Ford-published spec? I'll take the spec for $10, please.
FWIW - mine takes exactly 7 quarts, and it's just within the hash marks. Which I view as just a coincidence

My 04 5.4 also takes all 7..... I would be curious as to what would make the stick show you're ok after 6. Are they punched out in Vietnam?
If you actually drain the oil, you will need 7, no matter what your stick says.
Unless you've got a 4.6, then you'd be looking at 6 qt.

7 quarts of oil...(inscribes that to memory)
Has anyone used one of these quick-change plugs? I had the Fram one for my '79 Chrysler New Yorker when I was in college and I loved it! It keeps oil from splashing me and me trying to adjust my oil pan to catch the dieing flow.
And speaking of oil pans, anyone uses this over-sized oil & fluid pan? I like the size, but not the price! And the price doesnt seem to get much cheaper.
