Might buy an 07 FX4 SCREW...Should I do it or not?

The truck is fully loaded with 25,900 miles. The price is decent...around $26,000, I am going to try to talk them down. I am selling my 02 SCAB FX4 first so this will be the down payment. I am trying to finance around $15,000 or lower. Besides the plug issue...is there any other problems I should know about. I have been through about 80 pages of threads on the 04-08 F150's. Any help would be awesome!
Thanks in Advance!

Doug

so i am guessing it is a 5.4? they have the issues with the plugs like you stated, also have issues with cam phasers going out, exhaust manifold bolts breaking and needing replacing ( just did mine cost 550), window motors tend to go out... but i have a 2004 5.4 lariet with 115k miles on it and i wouldn't be happier with the way it has treated me, i love the truck to death and it has been good to me as well, just keep up on the maint, and see if you can get a ext warrenty on it just in case something goes wrong....

I'd talk them down. I picked up my '07 FX4 Luxury Package about two years ago. It only had 23K miles and was just under $20,000.

When you say fully loaded does that mean it's an FX4 Lux. Package?

Where do you find a deal like this?

What the OP posted would be a smokin deal down here in FL.

It was two years ago when you couldn't give a gas guzzler away.

Plus it appears his was only a scab where the OP is a screw.

Exactly. Bought my 06 FX4 1 1/2 years ago and it books out about 4k more now than what I paid for it.

Offer your truck and $13k see what they counter.

Thanks for all the input! The truck is fully loaded except for nav. So I think its the lux package. I tried to get them down to $23,000 plux $9000 down. So i would only finance $14000, but they said no. They said the truck at $26,900 is already at wholesale. Does this sound right?

They are over wholesale by about 2k. Wholesale price to me means, what a dealer would pay at auction.

Unreal what used trucks are bringing now days. Good luck in your decision.

I have a 2007 XLT 4x4 Screw and love it... I am sure there is wiggle room in the price but the guy who said he paid a lot less a couple years can't compare it to today's market. Gas prices are lower and clean low mileage trucks are harder to find, at least 2007s with under 26K.... I was just looking the other evening for a friend of mine and was surprised to see how few there actually are. Most 2007s now are in the 36-45k mileage range and up. I have had mine for a year and bought it with just under 13K and paid around 26K. I looked at a lot of trucks. Good luck with your purchase.

My truck is a scab, but KBB values mine at 29K with only 26K miles on it. I only paid 29.3 for it 3 1/2 years ago when it was new. It's unbelievable how much nicely equipped used trucks are going for, it's cheaper to buy a stripped new one.

I just looked up Suggested Retail value for the Richmond, Va area on a 2007 SCREW FX4 with 26K miles.... Kelly Blue Book suggests the price as $27,070 in Excellent condition... No additional options were selected... just base FX4 SCREW... The price is in the ball park but there should be some room ..... Good Luck...

Don't buy a Ford now. Whinning rear axle issues, transmission leaking into transfer case issue, plug issue, IWE issue, fuel pump driver issue, window squirter issues , cam phaser issues , bad mileage compared to others , Let's see I know there's more.Sorry, my last Ford. 2005 FX4

Even my 03 with a V-6 manual has a higher book value right now than it did 2 years ago, and it has a lot more miles on it too!

Wow!! I cannot believe how much used trucks are bringing. I lucked out like some of the other posts 1 1/2 ago, bought brand new 2008 xlt 5.4 extended cab $23,600. They were making room for the 09's and they actually showed me the invoice of what they paid, along with the holding time rebate.

They were practically giving them away at that time.
