Any ideas

Ok so the CEL came on, on the truck yesterday and it started the whole rough idle. It is an 05 with a 4.6, 94k. Now I know I need to do the whole plugs, fuel filter among a few other things, which will probably fix the rough idle, but what I am not sure of is that I went by AutoZone to have them scan it to see what codes it was throwing. He tried 4 times and gave him error every time, plugged it into his car it worked fine. Tried one more time on mine and gave him an error again. Any ideas?

I don't think so. I have never put one in and they have scanned it before at this same AutoZone.

Check the fuse for the cigarette lighter, it has something to do with the test plug.

Just check it. Still intact.

Could be a loose or bent pin or a loose connection on the OBDII port. Crawl under the dash and carefully inspect the pins and the connections on the back side of the port.

You could also try a different scanner at another store (NAPA, Pep Boys, etc.).

Last resort would be a trip to a mechanic or dealer.

Ok finally finally figured out what it is. The rough idle part anyway, IAC motor. Any one know anywhere that sells it by itself. All the auto parts places I have checked can't get it, and the dealer only sells it with the throttle body for $275.

Got the Obd port issue figured out to, had a buddy borrow a scanner from a friend of his and it worked fine.

The 05 doesn't have an IAC, it's an electronic throttle.

Try cleaning the throttle body opening. It might be gumming up.

Yea, I think that's the code my dad's was getting. A search on here said to clean the throttle body with carb cleaner (I think I used electric parts cleaner), clear the code (you can do it by disconnecting the battery), and hooking everything back up. Problem solved.
