I just went through this with the battery in our 08 sport trac. Did some calling around and ended up going back to the ford battery because of the warrenty and pro-rated for like 6 years. If a battery lasts me that long I have zero complaints about replacing it.
The battery in my 08 has 37k on it and still going strong.

The motorcraft battery was 125 and the others were all about 20-30 cheaper.

Everstart... Everstart...? I thought they WERE called NEVERSTART! I think the implication from the name IS "do they ever start?"

With this new battery the truck is darn near started before I can let go. Big improvement over OEM, the reserve hours and warranty are great also. Very pleased so far, thanks for the earlier information.

Just bought an Interstate Mega-Tron Plus based on this thread and others on here. I've been meaning to replace the battery but this morning was the last straw. We'll see how long this one lasts.

I agree. I had someone tell me once that buying a battery there is like buying a lifetime battery. Batteries are sold in the store, not the tire center. You just take the battery up to the customer service counter (where they can't and won't check it), complain about how it doesn't start in the mornings when it's cold, then they give you a full refund or exchange. Then you get a new battery, with a new receipt, good for another couple of years.

I just got a (N)Everstart from Wally for my 2005........will report on how it holds up. Consumer Reports actually tested batteries and ranked it as a "recommended" battery prolly due to relative low cost vs. the other units. I've also got a fairly new (N)Everstart in our Corolla and a Advance Gold 3 yr free in the old Trooper.

Was curious myself, so I followed your footsteps. This turned out to be a little surprising.

I just picked up the sears die hard platinum p-2 group size 65 and it starts my truck up quicker now with the temps hovering around 0 than my factory battery did in the summer time!

With that 25% off coupon that popped up RIGHT after I bought my (N)Everstart, I prolly would have gone with the Advance Autocraft Gold over the Wally battery if I had a do over. Its actually $114.99 locally but would be $86.25 with coupon. The Advance is 850cca vs 700cca for (N)Everstart AND has 84 mo pro rata warranty in addition to the 3 yr free. WalMarts no longer has any sort of a pro rata warranty on their batteries as their mfr/supplier(Johnson Controls) has discontinued it. Thats what the local store told me. In 40 yrs of driving I've never used battery warranty so this wasn't a deal breaker for me. Just sayin'.

Motorcraft batteries at one time could not be beat. My 1994 lasted 7 years. The one in my 2005 lasted 18 months. Yet still one in 2010 F-150 lasted 9 months. Have had a top of the line Wal-mart in my Thunderbird SC for 6 years, no issues.
