Sounds alot like mine: 07 Heavy Half 4x2 8200 GVW, 5.4 with 4.10s including 7 lug rims. Bought it last year in Calif and drove back to Mn. Only non-oem on it is the Eagle Alloy rims running original tires. Running cruise at about 2000-2200 rpms, got a best of 19.3 hwy, averaged around 18+ from L.A. to Mn on regular, about 16 mpg on high alcohol blend. Around town I average around 15 mpg, around 14 in winter. Highway I use CC, around town it's driving easy, no street racing. I also don't drag around dead weight, I leave the junk at home.

Not really. A guy I work with has an 04 FX4 Screw with the standard 6 bolt 18" wheels and a 35 gal tank.

LOL! I work for Sysco and we watch that cheesey Smith Sys video. I get about 424 or so with 315/50/20, true duels, stright magnaflows,X Pipe, PHP Gryphon on perf tune. and installing underdrives and e fan next, so I guess Im not doing to bad!

And I know your not going to knock out great numbers with a big truck but you can hold back the sarcasm, I mean really, anyone knows Im not going to get 30 mpg or anything!

21.0 mpg on highway, 70 mph. (Conoco 87 Octane, 100% gas)

Drive my 4.2! haha...

But here are the 65+ things that ecomodder.com recommends to improve MPG

http://ecomodder.com/forum/fuel-econ...ifications.php

Obviously, everything isn't written with truck owners in mind, but there's some useful stuff!

I have a 2005 5.4 liter scab 64kmiles . 3.73gears. stock 235/17 tires... 45psi tires, New fuel filter, chevron 87 gas. Ran a few bottles of techron....

In my city in Los Angeles there is so damn many stop signs... Lately ive been driving 90city/10highway and im getting 11mpg -___-

But when I drive highway its so amazing. Going to the river, (300miles) I went from full tank to half. so thats 600miles on a tank. (going 65 CC)

Mine is a 5.4 and with exhaust, air intake and my Edge on level 3 running 93 shell I'm seeing 14.5 - 15.3 around town mixed driving and as good as 17.9 on the highway.

The tank I'm running right now is not shell. Where I normally see 330 or so miles to a tank of gas I'm at 280 right now and low fuel light is probably going to come on on the way home today.

So the gas you run helps too.... IMO

as most of us were looking for a truck we weren't thinking about the mpg too much. we all were thinking, towing, hauling, etc. we all like our mods just cause they look good an make the truck run alot better and make us like our ride that much more. so if you are getting alittle better then avg. then great! so enjoy your rides and toys. don't sweat the small stuff!

Brand of gas does seem to make a difference in my vehicles (94 TBird 4.6, 97 F150 4.6 & 07 F150 5.4). Running 87 octane gas, seem to get the best mileage out of BP or Shell as I can get maybe 1/4-1/2 mpg better out of those brands vs Holiday or Super America brands. I've done some long term testing on them so it's not just a 1 fill test, rather 5-10 tanks. Better additives, better gas, I don't know but the numbers seem to bear it out.

This is all the stuff with 87 octane 10%-15% alcohol blend, E-85 is much worse and the cost difference does not make it worth while running that.

Does anyone know how good or bad Hess gas is for mileage compared to other gas stations? That's where I normally get gas.

Hess Gas?

All gasoline has SOME detergants added per EPA regulations as of 1996 or 1997? I have found that what I consider "No Name" gasoline brands tend to get less miles per gallon in my vehicles vs. the Name Brand (Shell, Chevron, Conoco) gasoline. I have noticed that I always see better mileage when I am running gasoline in TX vs. the gas I run in AR.

I did receive 17.7 mpg hi-way in my '94 F150 Lightning running on a slipping transmission, a bad spark plug wire and a clogged air filter using QT (Quick Trip) 100% gas from Tulsa, OK. I purchased the L used so that is the reason for the poor condition.

Just my $.02...

James
