Puddle Light Wire Question ?

Hello, I got my new Telescoping Towing Mirrors installed the other day. When I had my door panel off , I did have to move the 9 to 8 Pins so that that Mirror Defrost Button would stop blinking,,Thats all good and works fine. I was wondering if I had the correct puddle wire already in there, I have a total of 8 wires wires,,,

I believe the white/blue is the wire that triggers the door lights, that's probably the one you want... Hang on a sec and lemme check...

Edited to add... My mistake, I was thinking of the wires under the step plate. The BLACK/YELLOW and BLACK/PINK wires are what I tapped into when installing my AMP steps.

You will need to pull one of the pins that is no longer used (I think I used 11 IIRC) and connect a wire to it. Then run a wire through the door and tap into a wire in the kick panel thing. It has the diamond plate looking stuff on it. It is black with pink I believe. You will also need to run a wire from the passenger side to the driver side.

Nope, not a 2004 you wont. The puddle lamps didnt come out till 2007 or 2008. After you get them working you need to replace them with LED's. They are SO much brighter and look awesome.

Have you done the LED swap on your puddles yet? It was a PITA when I did it, but it was worth it. It looks great.

Yeah I did mine about a week ago. I went to harbor freight and bought a mini hack saw. It worked amazing. And only cost $3. I tried for hours with a razor blade and couldnt get anywhere. I used the brightest LED's that V-LED had and they work perfectly.

On a side note i also figured out that you can wire up a viper alarm to turn on your interior lights when you unlock the truck. So now when I unlock my truck my puddle lamps kick on.

That would be cool. I have a Clifford alarm on my truck. I don't really care for the way it is setup with the interior/cargo/puddle lights. I would like the alarm to work like the factory fob controlled the lights. When I unlock the truck, interior lights come on, and when I lock the truck, the lights instantly dim. Right now the lights don't come on when I unarm the truck, and when I arm the truck, the lights take a while before they dim.

I realize this a old thread, but just wanted to up-date it a bit (this may be here already, but didn't find it). Just installed an Ebay set of towing mirrors http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI...m=120914132467 into my 07. Went to upgrade the puddle lamp and got a surprise. The lens just pops out as before, however, the bulb which is a 194 in this unit is mounted on a rubber 'plug type' of connector. So long story short, these Taiwanese light are easy to change the puddle lamp to LED's..no cutting or anything..very simple and easy.
