As far as the OP, I'd fight to get it totaled.

Then get a Raptor!!!
I second that.

MY opinion.....fight for the total loss, even if you ever sell down the road your not goin to get the value of the truck + repairs and fixing to make it look new errr driveable err you get the idea...terribly sorry for all this man, youll pull through, just be patient

Tumba's advice was pretty good, get your dents up there and get it totaled.

And pictures soon because we sort of need to see it, or I personally call shenanigans.

I would very much like to see pictures. That way if I ever see similar damage to my truck I can use your experience to track down the problem.

Be very careful with the "added" damage, if they ding you for fraud they won't pay anything and your mail might be delivered to the GRAY-BAR HOTEL!!!

I'd fight them all the way on it.
BTW who's tree was it? Check home owner's liability.

Just my $0.02

want to see these pics

grab a cab from a junkyard for cheap and a new bed.

get them resprayed to match the undamaged portions...or do a whole new color for the entire truck.

pocket the the $6-8,000 you saved. screw letting the shop "repair" the cab.

No, neither of us were wrong. We are all referring to the same thing. It's semantics. Trust me when I tell you that if you are speaking to an adjuster about an auto accident, they will understand what you mean by "depreciation", "diminished value", or even "lost value". Let's not be so dense.

ok so first off i would like to start off with

1.) i agree, i need to get pics up ASAP.. i took em with my girlfriends camera and she has not put them on but is assuring me 109% they will be up today.

2.) As far as insurance wise, i have nationwide. And basically they have these blue ribbon shops that they make the body shop search out for certified used parts (wtf). Meaning that the parts have no damage to them but they have been on a vehicle and taken off at some point. They plug in the part they need into this data base and find them like that. So they will be any color and will get repainted when they go to put it on. Also they said the job would take about 27 bussiness days monday threw friday. pretty much 6 weeks.

3.) The tree was at my moms house and she has nationwide as well but they are saying my comprehensive insurance (act of god stuff) is taking care of it.

4.) I asked my adjuster about the loss of value or depreciation and he laughed at me. he said that is only covered in a collision and you would get it from the other persons insurance company.

So basically as i sit here i need to find a body shop around town that is not a nationwide blue ribbon shop and get them to work up a quote for my truck now and hopefully they do that job correctly and not bondo the **** out of it like nationwide and the shop it is at now wants.

any other ideas.

Also he told me all but 2 panels need replaced or BONDO'd to ****. I am seriously hating life everyday because lucky me didnt have rental insurance. YAY, but fortunatley people in my family are being awesome as hell and carting my *** around

Personally I would have it fixed and trade it in. Dealers are drooling at a possibility to do a deal and will be willing to offer you a good amount for the truck. I got them to pay off my car and I got an 08 F150 Supercrew for 9k below retail KBB. So maybe window shopping online and calling a few dealers might give you a better idea of what to do.
Just a suggestion.

I'd get a quote from another shop. And tell Nationwide to shove it b/c you have the right to have it fixed anywhere you trust.

oh and DEPRECIATION and DIMINISHED VALUE are two different damn things

That probably means they are too large and need to be resized. I assume you are trying to upload to an album. Also, to post a pic, it must come from an internet host such as Photobucket or your albums.
