You guys have any pictures/details of this? I've read tons of posts and how-to's on painting badges, but I'm still hesitant on doing mine.

I taped them off and used Duplicolor Shadow. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and use VERY light coats. There are a few pics in my albums.

Finally got it fixed. The driver side headlight still has some moisture in it. I'll have to let that air out for another day or 2.

Taped everything off, used some medium grit sandpaper to rough up the surface. Painted w/ some Rustoleum sandable primer ( black ), sanded again. Then put on 2nd coat of primer let everything dry. Next step painted a coat w/ rustoleum flat black. After drying the last coat I used was rustoleum clear coat gloss.

Truck is dirty rainy here in TN but, I am really pleased with how they turned out. There is more PICs in my alblums. I have the inlays just waiting for the weather to clear up so I can put them on.

Today I installed a Westin bull bar and a black TSC tool box on my truck. It took me about an hour.

I put new IWE's up front started the click on me after dragging the car trailer with a load of wood, through 10 inches of fresh snow. Something about 10 miles and never dropping below 3,500rpm's they didn't like...

took mine to a friends farm and drove it through fields and some cut paths in woods (little mud and stumps). lightly hit that stupid metal thing that hangs low below the tcase, didnt bend it like i did in my grand cherokee, everything else seems to be just fine. heard a couple tree branches reach out and grab me, so hopefully tomorrow i wont discover a big huge pinstripe down the side.

i keep telling my self if i dont do stuff like this i should have bought an 03 cobra. lol.

might be paranoid, but i come from a grand cherokee, you never know what your gonna break on those damn things.

truck did great.

off topic: when compared to expeditions, and tahoes and stuff, why was my trucks sticker 40k? my moms 2010 mercedes c class was 38 and has allot more options, are these trucks really engineered and designed to be worked like dogs and thats why they cost more? in other words, my 40 was for the engine, trans, axles, and beefy stuff versus options and doohickeys?

Looks good!! My truck is black. Not sure how good black badges would look. But I hate the chrome they are now.

There's one IWE Solenoid yes, but there IWE's (Spring loaded vacuum hubs) on both fronts...

"When the 4-wheel drive system is in 2WD mode,
the 4x4 module (PCM) supplies a ground path to
the IWE solenoid to apply vacuum to the integrated
wheel ends (disengaging the front hubs from the
front halfshafts). In 4WD mode, the 4x4 module
(PCM) does not supply the ground path to the IWE
solenoid, vacuum is not applied to the integrated
wheel ends and an internal spring keeps the front
hubs engaged to the front halfshafts."
