Didn't want to spend money on the fishing truck...

When I got my Lariat Screw 4x4 in February, I told my wife that I did not plan to put too much money into the truck.
First order of business was spending $100 to Herculiner the bed. It was pretty beat up so I hammered out all the dents before the prep and application. Truck looked 100% better.

Then, since the wife and kids were struggling to get in the truck, I ordered Smittybilt Nerf Bars ($125). Family does not have to use Batman's utility belt to climb into the truck anymore.

Then I changed all the plugs for $70.00,(general maintenance) and replaced two COPs($100 because I was too impatient to wait for a full set from uneeksupply). Truck was running much better now!

I bought some deep channel rubber mats to catch all the sand that my children manage drag in off the beach. I guess rolling in the sand dunes has something to do with that.($45)

My bull bar with lights was a freebie but the honeycomb grill just did not go with the black bar, so I moved on to purchase a black H-bar grill ($50.00).

Up to that point, I think I was doing pretty good...
$100--Herculiner
$125--Nerf Bars
$70---Spark Plugs
$100--2 COPs
$45--Rubber Mats
$50--H-Bar
FREE-Bull Bar

$490-Total

Then I remembered that I purchased a Mark Viii E-fan on ebay for $75 and a DCC controller for about $80. Can't forget Gotts mod for $5.00. Still doing okay, but we are now getting up there in $$$.

$490
$75--e-fan
$80--DCC controller
$5---Gotts

$650--Total

So yesterday, I get the bug again and decide to order an Edge evo for $350 and order that full set of COPs from uneeksupply since I suspect another COP went out and I figure I may as well replace the whole set and keep the good ones for spares.

Now, let's take a look at the total with the new purchases.

$650
$350--Edge Evo
$110--COP

$1110--Total

Lo and Behold, in a little over a month an a half, I have dropped over 1k into this "Sunday fishing truck"

Does it ever end? I know that I want a new set of tires, but jeez they are expensive.

When does it end?

Hmmm...interesting. One of my excuses for getting a newer truck was that I wouldn't dump so much money into it making it nice and on maintenance. So far, maintenance has consisted of oh lets say 10 oil changes, 1 fuel filter change, 1 air filter, and replacing the drivers side front window motor and assembly.

So maintenance cost in 15 months: 10x$20, 1x$40, 1 x$15, and 1x$100= $355.

Now, mods...where to begin (I mod on a budget too...look for lowest price on the internets, always).

Brush Guard - $160
AS 2.5" Level & Alignment - $140
First Sub Setup (1 Infinity 10", eBay box, 400 watt Audiobahn amp, 8 awg wire) $210
Husky Liners - $100
First Exhaust - $240 (y-pipe into duals, straights, 3.5" tips)
Second Exhaust - $100 (converted to true duals)
Hi-Flow Cats - $220
285/75-18 Toyo AT's (35's) - $1110
Third Exhaust - $200 (back to factory haha)
Second Sub Setup (2 Infinity 10's, Fox box, 1600w Audiobahn amp, 8 awg wire) - $400
Optima Red-Top Battery - $190
New Amp (Kenwood 9104D) - $190
Third Sub Setup (2 Kicker CVR 10's, eBay box) - $235
Pioneer P3100 HU w/ PACSWIPS & Backup Cam - $400
HID's for Fogs and Heads - $100
Complete LED Swap - $60
Patriot Decals Emblem Overlays - $30
Gotts Modd - $5

I think thats it so far...$4090 in just mods. I think I'm going to be sick.

The exhaust was by far the biggest waste of money...$760 and its the same as the day I bought the truck.

I bought it that way. How can I tell. I can tell you that it does not have the front rake. BTW, I am a Mustang lover as well. I've owned an 84, a 92, and now a 2006, all GT's. The 92 was a heavily modified daily driver, and my 06 only has two mods...Mac exhaust and a Kenne Bell supercharger!!!

The worst part about this is I am still looking for some bushwacker pocket flares and maybe a rear overhead DVD system for the kiddos!

mustangs are my first love. there such fun cars. check in the front on top of the springs, if its leveled it will have something bolted to the underside of where the top of the spring sits, and the top of the front spring will be sitting on it rather than that spring perch. thats where spacers go.

imo unless your tires and wheels stick out from your fenders the pocket flares look bad.

Look at the front struts. There will be a little metal puck on top of them if it's leveled. If you can't tell you could post a pic of one side and we'll let ya know.

BTW, Very nice truck.

I'd put a dollar on that truck being leveled and sleep fine tonight. Looks great!
