Absolutely wonderful!

When I awoke to go to work this past Friday I had a nice surprise...

It appears that someone tried, in vain, to get in my truck some time Thursday night. The paint is badly scratched up under that plastic/rubber piece in two big spots and that black piece is pretty much ruined.

To top it all off, it looks like after they gave up on getting something in the door it looks like they threw rocks (muddy ones, hence the mud) at the window, leaving some big deep scuffs on the glass with mud engrained in them.

Sooo....not getting the door repainted right now, just going to get some touch up so atleast it won't look bad from far away.

I'm guessing I could go to the dealer and get a replacement strip for whatever that black piece is called.

Any ideas on what I can do for the glass?

This is really making me uneasy about installing a Pionner AVH-P3100DVD next week...and of course now the GPS stays in the console.

Just moved to Birmingham 4 weeks ago. Welcome.

That is really a shame! You might check around and get lucky finding a complete door at a wrecking yard. May cost about the same, if you can find the same color.

Nope, no garage. I am a student Auburn University and I am co-oping in Birmingham this semester, this big village sucks.

I am just in an apartment right now because I'll only be here until the middle of May, and thriftiness was the name of the game when selecting an apartment haha

Sorry to hear about that man. That sucks! I bet you could get the piece pretty cheap form a dealer and you may even be able to find a door at a salvage yard for a good deal. That's one of the reasons I hate B'ham. Auburn is MUCH better! I lived in Auburn for 2 years and my wife lived there for 4 1/2 years. Neither of us had a problem with things like this...... well except for the fact that my wife's car was parked next to another guys car at her apartment complex one night and his caught on fire out of nowhere. The good thing is that the FULL 5 gallon jug of gas in his trunk never blew up!

looks like one of the first things I would be doing would be getting windows tinted dark and an alarm.. it really sucks that it has to be that way for security reasons.. but you dont want those same people coming back after they see gps or cdplayer in there..

Man that sucks, I caught a guy trying to break into my 03, needless to say he had a very bad night. After a couple good shots he gave up, I made him give me his ID, he went home busted up (walking), then he got a free ride to county several days later once I turned him in. Would of happened that night but I did not have my phone on me. Damn thieves, I have no use for them. Good luck with all.

Welcome to Birmingham Chris.

If it was me, I'd go the insurance route but it doesn't sound like you want to get it all fixed.

That is very unfortunate. What did you have of value?

You should really consider some of that black stuff that limits exterior view of visibility of the interior of your truck as seen here

I would do two things. 1 I would go the insurance route to get it fixed and done correctly then getting a door from a junkyard that would have to be painted anyways for it to blend with your truck. and 2nd I would look for a new townhome with a garage that locks. Might be a little more pricier but for more security I think it would be worth it. I know when I'm looking for a place it will need a garage because I really don't trust people. I live in a good neighborhood right now so I only use my garage sometimes like right now my truck is parked in there for the winter. So My truck is nice and cozy.
